Aww man, my heart just sank reading this. The prognosis with stomach cancer is usually not good, but he was a fighter and fought for a long time. I was really hoping he’d beat the odds.

I was looking forward to seeing him play back in 2020, I believe. He was scheduled to headline a country music festival in my hometown. Then Covid happened and the festival ended up getting pushed back and again in 2021. By the time the festival actually took place in 2022, he had been diagnosed and had to cancel.

RIP Toby, thanks for the music.

I am completely stunned. Didn’t know he had cancer and 62 is too young. Despite his spat with the (Dixie) Chicks and some of his rah rah go USA songs after 9/11, he had some great music.
