Didnt see a thread for this player but I think he is still worthy of some discussion.
Although I think he was the 4th best RW in camp I still have high hopes for Rieder. My thinking is that he will be better served by starting lower down in the lineup so he can just play his game. He is like a much better version of Aberg to me...great skater...and unlike Aberg he kills penalties and actually has the potential to play in the top 6 IMO.

In the mean time I wanted to share this video of Gene interviewing Toby. Good fun interview...both Gene and Toby seem to be enjoying themselves.
Notice that Gene is the only human that is wearing shorts and a short sleeved shirt. Everybody else is in long pants and a coat...lol

    Gotta love Gene.

Not sure if he's better on the LW or RW but his speed and pking brings a lot to the team. The last 2 or 3 games of preseason he was flying out there.

I agree...very versatile player and he did look much better as the preseason rolled along.
I said in another thread that Yamamoto was better in the Preseason (which he was...so was Puljujarvi) but I really hope Rieder maintains that momentum and really impresses in the first 10 games.

Rieder is one of the guys on the team who should flirt with 20 goals. Maybe overly optimistic, but along side his PK work, I could see a 20 goal 20 assist sort of season since over the year he will get time with both McDavid and Drai.

Last year we only had 3 20+goal scorers, and this year we might have 6 if Rattie, Puljarjavi and Rieder all contribute to that point.

20/20 would be a great season for Rieder.
The thing I like most about him is that he is a true utility player...he can play either wing...up and down the lineup and he can PK.
Players like that are very valuable.

Was good to see a guy that struggled in camp/pre-season play the way he did yesterday.

Was also nice to see his speed as I thought he was getting over some sort of knee injury or something.

He needs to play with Drai on the 2nd line. Drai needs better wingers that can handle the puck. Give him Rieder and Jesse and watch them rack up points.

Put Lucic on a grindy dump and
    chase-y 3rd line with Strome and Khaira/Yamo.

he has helped our PK it seems... may not be the winger for Drai like we hoped but still a decent bottom 6 player

I know it's not in fashion to praise Chia here ... but so far it looks like Rieder was a good singing.

I think if Yamamoto doesn’t pick up any points in the next couple of games he’ll go down and Reider will get that spot.

Reider is looking like he belongs in the top six. In the little bit he played with McDavid yesterday Toby certainly looked like he belonged.

Solid player but underwhelming overall so far. Only 3 games but hope he and the team improve drastically.

He's looked great, imo. Would love to see him get some time with McDavid and see RNH on Draisaitl's line

He was a good signing and Chia has made some good moves. No one should ever claim otherwise.

The problem with Chia is when you look over the entire scorecard. Spoiler alert it's not good.

He's been getting chances and has been noticeable in a good way. He has been as advertised IMO.

I guess it depends on what you actually expect out of a guy playing the least amount of ESTOI/GP next to Brodziak

I've liked what I've seen overall and think it's only a matter of time before he creeps up in the lineup.

I didn't realize it was that bad, but makes sense considering he's on the 4th line.
