First of all, I would like to thank TML Rebuild for setting up this draft and making this all possible.

Now, with the first overall selection of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft the Edmonton Oilers are proud to select... from the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League Ryan Nugent-Hopkins

Nugent-Hopkins+Ryan+RD7.jpg

We are extremely happy to select Ryan. We felt he was the best player available and he has so much potential. He controls the flow of play so well and is easily the best playmaker in this draft. He has tremendous vision and hockey sense and combined with his quickness and passing ability, we think he will be a fantastic player in the NHL. We expect him to be centering Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle on the top line sometime in the future.

We would like to thank our fans for their support for this season and going forward.

With the 3rd overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft the Minnesota Wild are proud to select from the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League Gabriel Landeskog

Gabriel-Landeskog-2.jpg

We are very happy with the opportunity to move up and draft a player of Gabriel's caliber. A leader on the ice who has the skills to help take his team towards their goals. He is a talented two-way player that will do whatever it takes in both ends of the ice in order to win the game. With his talents we are certain he will be a key part of our future for a long time.

The Colorado Avalanche are proud to select Sean Couturier of QMJHL with the 4th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. With Larsson providing depth on defense we went with BPA here and a 1-2-3 punch of Duchene-Couturier-O'reilly at center we look like a force for the future. This pick also allows undersized center prospect Joey Hishon to make his move to the wing of one of these gifted centers.

With the 6th pick the New Jersey Devils are proud to select from the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL, Jonathan Huberdeau.

SNB_huberdeaujonathan_1_101.jpg

“He's the type of player who can change the outcome of a game suddenly and quickly. He's displayed unbelievably quick hands and an ability to set up and score goals. He definitely has NHL hands and playmaking ability . . . he's also gritty and does not back down when challenged.”

We hope can replace some of the offence that was left when Zach Parise was traded due to contract issues, and we strongly believe he will be a good top 6 forward in the future.

With the fortune of having back to back picks, we are also proud to select with the next pick, from the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL, Ryan Murphy.

images

"He’s like no one else in this league. You can’t get to him, you can’t hit him. He’s a kid that’s slippery, his vision is second to none, his hockey sense is second to none. He can skate and he’s got a rocket. He’s got all the intangibles to be an all-star not only in this league, but the National Hockey League."

We see a lot of Scott Niedermayer when he played for the Devils in Ryan Murphy. We don't think that size will effect Ryan and that in the near future he's going to be an offensive stud in the back end for years to come.

We asked for time. Check the trade thread the 6th pick was traded to the Devils

I gave you time, I wasn't going to wait all day. You asked for time early last night. I came on here at 1:30 today and still nothing had been done. If the team after new jersey had made their selection this would have been vetoed. Get you're trades done on time or I won't accept them in the future. I'm not holding up the draft for lack of time management.

Yeah sorry, I don't usually do that but I was offered a deal and it was hard to iron out the details.

It won't happen again.
