Is this for real? Can he keep it up?

Since the last half of last year, I've kind of liked him as a decent player, but he's looking like a legitimate first-line, 60 point type of guy. And what's more, a very complete player. I know to some extent he's the beneficiary of playing with Staal and Semin, but I can also see he's contributing quite a bit to that line as well.

The funny thing is, I see a lot of similarities in Bowman as far as playing style which makes me think it might be a very good idea to make sure he stays around long enough to develop fully. Would be a shame if he went somewhere else and turned into a 20 goal guy.

Tlusty is what JR thinks LaRose has been for the past 4 years.

He's also David Krejci 2.0.

--He's Czechoslovakian.

--He's solid and unspectacular.

--60 point 2 way glue guy who facilitates his more talented linemates.

--They both have names that I am most likely misprounouncing as I type this.

Look at the first goal tonight: Tlusty got a secondary assist.

He redirected the puck from an Eric Staal face off win to Semin in the slot before crashing the net with Staal.

It wasn't the flashiest play, but it was the correct play, which is what matters most.

I'd be hesitant to call Tlusty a 60 point player right now. 50? maybe. But 60 is definitely a little past pushing it.

Yeah calling him a 60 point guy is a little premature, I'd say. I think 45 is fair with how he's started off the year though.

Is anyone surprised, though? Didn't most of us have Tlusty as our breakout player anyway? Dude tore it up in the Czech league with Jagr and Pleks, I thought an uptick in production from last year was to be expected...

Tlusty has looked fantastic since he got put on the first line last year. Consistently one of our better performers night in, night out. Best trade JR has made in ages.

He was dropped. In fact, LaRose took Tlusty's place in that line immediately after Jordan scored to tie it up, then spent the entire 3rd period there

Probably the best thing, since Staal and Semin definitely need a swift kick in the ass these past couple games.

In terms of Tlusty's expectations, if he puts up 50 points (in 82 games. So like...25 this season), it should be considered a success. He won't have the same offensive production as his linemates (at least, I'm hoping that's the case), but he'll make up for it in defensive play.

John said something about wanting to spread the scoring out.

Putting Tlusty on the third line with Nash and Bowman makes a decent third line. Semin and Staal can carry LaRose for a few games.

It's possible, but frankly, that line had been non-existent for the previous 3 games (and for most of last night). A change was needed just to get Staal and Semin out of whatever funk they were in. Hopefully turn them back into that offensive-zone force they were during that roadtrip.

I'm sure he is jumping for joy at the chance to play with elite center Nash and all star Bowman while Larose is bumped to the top line. Spreading it around sounds good but the bottom 6 hasn't worked all year other than give 1 and 2 a breather. He has looked good this year but that is a move to remove all air from his sails...

That's true as well.

And if nothing else, LaRose is a great spare tire. Don't expect much mileage out of him.

Victim of circumstance, unfortunately. It's more important that Staal and Semin have good games/years than worrying about Tlusty's play.

Besides, it's not like he's been that far removed from 3rd line duty in the first place.

Tlusty is a great example of a guy who "gets it" and is willing to do grunt work to be successful. We don't really have a power forward on the team at this point, but he's done an admirable job of working the corners and the crease to make Eric's and Semin's hot starts possible.

I don't expect he'll look quite as good playing with less talented teammates, but as a glue guy on the first line he's really been a revelation.

I agree about being victim. I don't see Larose being able to fill in for what Tlusty was able to help with on that line. If anything, just the pure finish. Not even counting the grunt work he did for the two of them. Its only a matter of time before Chad is being stuffed in camera holes.
