Flames need to acquire another impact forward or starting goalie. They have extra defensemen. I think trading brodie will provide enough value to acquire one of those things or good pieces to help acquire those things.

What would you give for TJ?

Have you noticed the games TJ didn’t play on the top pair we’ve looked absolutely horrid. The games that he plays on the top pair we’ve looked good.

Coincidence? I think not.

No to both. Dube is a good prospect, and Brodie has 2 years left on his contract vs 1.

Athanasiou+Nyquist for Brodie+Czarnik & 3rd? Keep in mind Nyquist will likely garner a late 1st @ TDL. AA has 2 years left on contract, just like Brodie. I was just trying to balance cap hits in initial offer.

Nvm, I'm mixing up Abdelkader with Athanasiou. Not a bad bottom 6 piece, but definitely wouldn't ido it for the initial offer. Remove the third, and it seems pretty even if Nyquist could be flipped for a 1st. Though in that case, Brodie could also probably be flipped at the deadline for a bit more, so its kind of a wash trade.

AA (Andreas Athanasiou) has blazing/game breaking speed (a la McDavid) & sick hands/skill. He is average defensively, has NHL size, youth, very affordable bang for buck, but we have plenty of wingers now & upcoming. He's been playing 2nd line this year & 1st/2nd line minutes. DRW tried him at C for 1st 5 gms where he had 1 pt. (we also started 5 rookie D those games), C is his preferred position, but he is much better suited at W. He has 4 pts. in 5gms since moving back to wing. So essentially you're getting 2 line 50-55 pt.+ guys (on a playoff bubble team flanking an average #2C). AA is likely to hit 50 this year on a crap DRW team. Look at it this way, you're $2M saving cap & real $, benefits a small market/budget conscious team & the equivalent of 2 late 1sts for 1 late 1st & 3rd + 4th(Czarnik)...if anything CGY comes out ahead & this is a pure hockey trade helping both teams.
