Kroenke's have tons of money so my guess is either they didn't value him at $8 mil/year and/or had 0 interest in giving him ownership equity.

IIRC the Wizards offered Ujiri a similar deal except it was closer to 10-11 mn/year.

Aside from the Jokic pick he did draft/acquire Will Barton, Murray, Porter Jr (bit of a gamble but last year it looked like a great pick) & Monte Morris on the current team.

Also drafted solid players like Gary Harris & Malik Beasley.

Teams are desperate for guys who have had any sort of success. The Bob Myers & RC Budfords of the league aren't going anywhere.
