Rangers Need Just 3: The Rangers have won 18 of their last 19 playoff games in which they scored three or more goals, including 12 in a row. The Elias Sports Bureau tells us that 12-game streak is the longest active of its kind in the playoffs, and it’s the longest for the Rangers since they won 15 straight games under those circumstances in the playoffs from 1970 to 1972. A win Thursday night would give Henrik Lundqvist his 41st playoff win, tying Mike Richter's team record.

This article is from last Thursday.

The Rangers scored 3 goals last night. So 19 of their last 20 games and 13 in a row scoring just 3 goals equals a Rangers victory. Scoring 3 goals a game and Lundqvist in net. That's the winning formula.

Blind Melon. 3 is a magic number.

Looks like the last time they lost a playoff game when scoring 3 goals was game 5 of the ECF vs the Devils in 2012.

And they have 3 chances to get a win, and move on to the SCF ;)

My dream is Rangers vs Kings. A little tougher than the Hawks, but more fun I think.

i'm pretty sure, given league averages and such, that most teams win more than they lose when they score 3.

My thoughts as well. But when 13 of 16 teams average 2.5 GF/G in the playoffs this year, it's pretty remarkable...
