These two guys have to be the two most overlooked and least talked about bluechip prospects today. With as much talk as Carter, Getzlaf, Kostitsyn, Richards and other 03 guys get, it amazes me how little these two are talked about.

Vanek is the 2nd best goal scorer in the AHL right now at age 20, a big part of the best team in the AHL.

Brown has been at or near Top 10 in AHL scoring all year, also at the age of 20, a huge part of the 2nd best team in the AHL.

It's like these guys are overlooked because they are playing in a Top Pro league and not dominating juniors like the other 03 guys.

I agree with you Vanek is doing amazing for himself and Brown is the safest bet NHL prospect picked that year

I totally agree. It's kinda' funny to me that guys like Carter, Parise, and Getzlaf are at times ranked higher than Brown and Vanek. These guys are playing in a competitive AHL right now and are putting up above average numbers for 20 year olds.

I think had Brown been healthy for last years WJC's he'd of opened a lot more eyes.

I still cant get a handle on how Vanek is playing in the AHL, hes scoring at a torrid pace but I keep hearing hes floating and stuff? Did the big time scorers in todays game ever float in juniors? I really wanna see him play so I can truly know what kind of player he is cause alot of people analysis' of him are different. Hes an amazing prospect. Who won this trade that I made for Vanek in my hockey pool.

    To me:
    Thomas Vanek
    Anders Eriksson

    To other team:
    Bryan Berard

Hockey pool? You got hosed...if its a points league. Bryan "the fourth forward" Berard was insane last year....over 40 pts in minimal games. If its FHL its a pretty even deal.

Vanek and Brown have been amazing in the AHL this year, especially considering their ages. If Spezza hadn't put up the ridiculous numbers that he has, these guys plus a couple others would be getting more recognition.

I'm a huge fan of Dustin Brown's. The U.S. will need an Adam Deadmarsh clone for future international tournaments, and he fits the bill perfectly.

I dont think he's near as tough & he's not quite as physical.

I don't think he's as tough, but I think he's as physical, but a better goal scorer. I see Brown as more of a Deadmarsh - Guerin clone.

Not to steal the thunder from these two but mr. no offensive upside Kesler has put up 30 goals this season as well while playing against other teams top lines every night. (edit: not saying he has the offensive upside of either of them as well just wanted to mention that his production has gone fairly unnoticed as well)

Also, the other guys you mentioned are all '85 birthdays so we got to see them in the WJC which is one of the biggest and most discussed events around here.

Brown's not much of a fighter, but he's a banger who makes space for himself, and has a nice skillset. Maybe that is closer to Guerin.

Two more goals and an assist for Vanek tonight. Brown also had an assist on Manchester's only goal.

I agree that both are getting not enough praise around here. I'm actually re-doing the 2003 Entry draft in the HF Poll & Petition board, but so far (#5), neither one of them has hit the board. I believe Vanek is a better player than Brown, but both might turn out better than the ones who get all the media.

I would not compare Brown to anyone at this point. I would say he is gonna be a lunchpaler though!
