Ignoring contracts, I’m fairly confident that if you gave every GM the opportunity to pick any goalie for their team next season, Price’s name would come up for most of them.
So in fantasyland where these guys all play for free only most would want Price?

Lol Carey price has one bad year and he’s worse then rantaa, Andersen etc... he’s still a top 3 goalie in the nhl
I think THN were quite consistent in listing goalers with injury problems lower than they should've had. It wasn't just Price, Gibson and Varlamov are both top 13-ish goalers and just have a long injury history.

They really need to stop making lists. They're f***ing awful.

Price's career stats are very similar to Andersen's and he was just heavily outperformed by him last year. He should be behind him. Price is certainly not a top 3 goalie after a season like that. He has to earn it again

Career stats are horrible ways to judge goalies. Price's numbers were way better for 4 years prior to last year.

I don't understand why Vasilevskiy keeps being put so high on these lists. He's a good goalie but one hot half season doesn't make you a top 3 goalie, especially when you have a weak second half

Shouldnt be rated. He was worse than a backup this past season so the average of the past 2 seasons will be pretty low.

He's certainly proven that he can be excellent as well as terrible

If you forget the previous season performance and only look at the 2017-2018 (season+ playoffs), here's the list of goalie performance over the expected:

Sv% is the actual save%
xSV% is the expected save %, when you consider the shot location and quality
dSv% is their difference: it shows how much above the expected the goalie performed

dSv% = 0% is how an average 2017-18 NHL goalie would have done when facing the same shot quality (meaning save% would have been same as expected%).

Yeah it's weird. I don't get it. He's not better than Gibson, for one.

Was Price so bad he didn't even make the list?

Lundqvist at 25 is yikes for sure. Again, I appreciate anyone who puts the time into making a list like this but the rankings on that list are very questionable.

Elliott is too high. Bottom 5 starter. Neuvirth is better but made of paper maché.

When does Bob get dinged for his awful playoff performances?

First the top 50 player list, now this atrocity.

THN is either in the business of hot takes and clickbait or needs to hire someone who watches hockey games.
