Missed it by That Much
Great.

That’s why there is many different flavors of ice cream.

I think that many of the hockey media in and around Toronto are Leaf’s sycophants and Friedman is no exception. Not as bad as some, but bad. Give me McKenzie and Dreger all day long over any of them.

Friedman works for the network that broadcasts the Leafs, the other 2 don't. Knows who pays for his butter and bread. I usually put on ignore all things Leafs, has decent insight otherwise.

Once again there is no Bruin news but Friedman did tell a funny Cam Neely story:

This reminds me of a Garry Galley story. We were doing a playoff series and someone was struggling to score. He said he was getting chances, though. When we went out after the game, Galley said he once saw Harry Sinden tell Cam Neely the Bruins needed him to get going. Neely said he was getting his chances, just couldn’t finish. Sinden replied (paraphrase), “Hey, I don’t pay you to get chances. I pay you to score.”

I wouldn’t mind giving up quite a few of our prospects to get Coyle

There are some names I would try to keep off the list but he would help balance the bottom 6

I'm coming around to this line of thinking, especially with Frederic, Studnicka and Lauko coming along in the system. Not all of these guys are going to make it

Time to make a decision on a few of them and cash them in.

Five of our top 6 spots are locked up for years. Take away dime a dozen 4th liners all teams employ and you're looking at what 4 spots tops?

I don’t mind that line of thinking, but Coyle isn’t the guy I would be giving the prospects up for.

I liked Harry and miss him, you knew he wasn't afraid to make a deal or call any one out. Today you can blame it on the salary cap, the weather or a fax machine if a deal doesn't get done, but my money would be on Harry to get it done.

Agree on almost everything. He would absolutely make deals and call people out - but he didn't get it done. Came close several times.

I don't blame Harry for that. I feel the Jacobs weren't willing to reach into their pockets, so that one piece the Bruins so badly needed at times, Harry could go out and get. The Jacobs were happy and content as they new they were going to go a few rounds in the playoffs and they were going to make their millions. If they would of been willing to open up their wallets for Harry, I feel the Bruins would have a few more Cup banners hanging from the rafters

Not surprised at Clodes lack of a sack there. This is the same guy who cried to Kovalev and got a puck shot to his head by John Madden and didn't do anything.
And just what would you have done in that situation?

Serious question.

Great interview with Ference on the last 31 Thoughts podcast which included talk about Thomas. You should listen to the whole thing, but if you aren't going to, spoiler alert to my favorite anrcdote:

Ference said that one day Claude called a meeting with the players' leadership group. He asked the guys how he can better handle Thomas. Apparently, Claude brought him into his office to talk and Thomas just called him a communist and didn't say anything else.
Now if Thomas said socialist he may have been more accurate
Anyway funny story
