What a saga this has been:
Toronto - Pat we need to shed some salary, can we trade you?
Pat - screw you guys I'll only go to San Jose.
Toronto - we can't seem to work out a trade to San Jose.
Pat- Well then trade me to someone who will buy me out, I want to go to San Jose.
Pat traded to Carolina.
Carolina - we can buy you out, but will you play for us instead?
Pat - thanks but no thanks, I want to go to San Jose
Carolina buys him out.
San Jose - hey Pat, thanks but I don't think we've got room.
San Jose gets some injuries.
San Jose - Hey Pat, about that...

Well if he can get 37 points he isnt useless. Still dont think we need him but

He could get 37 points last year if you played him with a superstar C and on the PP. Then his game fell off a cliff in the last quarter of the year.

He was the definition of a passenger/leech last year and has likely gotten slower since then. Guy has absolutely 0 intensity in his game anymore.

What does it mean "heating up"? He is a league min salary player right now. I have a hard time believing there will be some kinda "bidding war" for his services. If SJ offered him a league min salary, he would have taken it by now.

Hed be fine on 800k to put some skill on the 4th line somewhere with a bit of pp time.

You dont want him in your top 9 at this point.

Obviously Marleau is asking for way more than his value. Along with playing time etc otherwise he could play tonight if he wanted. Just not he envisions his salary or playing time.

I laughed but wasn't it Marleau that asked for a trade to be closer to home?

I think Marleau would be great on the Sharks on the 4th line but here's the thing. The Sharks haven't sucked because of their role players that they have in there like a Bergmann, Yurt or Goodrow, they've sucked because their best players have been terrible.

If he signs for a league minimum and it pushes someone like Gambrell down, I am ok with it. But the Sharks really are better off saving up the cap space and going after a bigger fish.

Everyone’s sucked these games.

Joe Thornton: "He's still the best skater on the ice"

Next to you, Joe, I'd probably be the best skater on the ice.
