I disagree.

Who has Shero drafted who is an established top 4 defenseman or top 9 forward?

Maata is the closest thing, and he is hurt.
Morrow? Despres? Samulesson?
Puliet is still a prospect.

Most of those guys you mentioned have yet to solidly establish themselves, AND WORSE is that we have NOTHING in the pipeline. NOTHING.

If we did, they would have had ample chance to get a call up this season.
We have ZERO forward prospects outside of JR's 2014 1st pick.

This, 1000%.

One of the big problems I see with Shero's drafts was the constant drafting of smallish forwards with minimal skill. Like yinz said, the draft is really a crapshoot after Rd 1, so why not draft some big, strong forwards and hope one or 2 develop even into 3rd or 4th line guys.

just one thing.....looking back we can easily see what could of been....but there is no guarantee that if we didn't pick the players we now have , we would have picked the players we now think we should have.

The trade for Perron was worth of a number one pick. But where Shero really failed was giving up picks for so many rentals. The Morrow trade was just bad. The Murray giving two number twos was bad. Iginla was costly as well. The constant picks for third line vets has to end now. No more number one picks should be traded due to the Pens really have to focus on building up the system to replace the Kunitz's, Dupuis, Adams of the roster. Presently Sundqvist and KK offer talent that are to 9 but correct Shero clearly was wrong on drafting smaller forwards and not a banger on defense. KK has top end talent but man so many forwards at WB with no size or have limited skill.
