At their best, they were both exciting and dynamic players to watch.

Each guy had his issues and there's a good chance neither will be inducted into the HHOF (at least in the near future), but they both had very good careers.

Kovalev probably had more talent, but Fleury made better use of his. He didn't have too many seasons where he didn't play to his ability... at least until later on in his career. Kovalev had four very strong seasons and the rest of his career was pretty much a tease.

Pretty easily Fleury. Much better big game performer, had better numbers on an overall and per game basis, was more consistent, never floated, had more hart consideration and finished in the top 10 in scoring more times.

Kovalev had more natural talent (that he didn't put to use very well), less off ice issues and a better temperament. On the ice though I take Fleury any day of the week.
