Do you guys think he's a player that can benefit from a change of scenery or are there bigger issues? He doesn't seem like a Torts type of player and I remember Torts flipping out on him last year against the Canucks.

Well, offensively he can't be worse...

In regards to the question from this summer if Wennberg could rebound into a 2 (or even 3) C, the verdict is in - no.

Find me a 20 point "PK specialist" making $5m annually.

Agreed on the buyout and would have agreed with it this past summer. Let's see what Stenlund can do in his place.

I think he’s an extremely overpaid 3C.

He's overpaid and a 4th line player here. He demonstrates basically no offense, but shows passing that tells you he has some skill. That will only happen with a change of scenery and a move from Torts as the two have bad chemistry - but all that comes with no guarantee.

Wennberg is now scoring points at a rate LESS than he did last season. With 10 points in 34 games, he's averaging .29 PPG. He was at .33 PPG (25 pts. in 75 GP) during his stellar previous season.

Nice job bringing him back, Jarmo!

For G-d's sake, hon. Do you have some kind of reminder to self in your calendar to bump this thread weekly or something? You've done it four or five times in a row now. Every Friday in December, even.

Ya know, sis. You could just let my posting go. You could let this thread go. You could let the fact that people are going to criticize Wennberg (a lot) go.

I don't like a lot of your posts. I don't make posts about them-this post excepted. I just move on from them. It's real easy. You should try it. Do as you are preaching to me. Set an example. I know y'all can do it!

Most of the time I do. But I don't have a weekly reminder to self to bump the same thread about the same topic over and over.

Its crazy what used to be considered "fact" regarding Wennberg….

Perception vs Reality

Its coming to the point where we wont even argue the semantics of people wanting to "dump Wennberg", or even care who said it or if it was said, as it will be the correct and possibly only choice.

With 6 even strength points in 34 games, Wennberg is tracking for 14 even strength points in 82 games.

I bet with those two early goals he thought he'd quieted his critics (and his coach) about needing to shoot more.

What is he, 0-5-5 in his last 25 games?

The (evidently) departed majormajor cast many aspersions upon me for not drinking the koolaid about the new and improved Wennberg:laugh:

Predicting Wennberg's failure this season was a no brainer.

The futile attempt to turn him into more of a shooter was doomed to failure. A 25 year old player cannot reinvent how he visualizes and thinks the game. Wennberg's passing was very overrated and once the rest of the league figured him out as a pass first/second/third player, his short-lived success was over. His pathetic performance the previous 2 seasons could only be overlooked or justified by eternal optimists or the brain dead.

Really glad to see Wenny step up with the absence of multiple regulars. 0-6-6 in his last 29 games.

Among the 326 NHL forwards who have played 300+ minutes at 5v5 this season, Wennberg ranks 295th in points per 60 minutes. Only Josh Anderson is worse on the Jackets. Wennberg has three primary points (goal, primary assist) at 5v5 this season.

He's Ville Leino 2.0. Should have bought out last year. He'll probably rip his knee up in the final game of the season and he won't be able to be bought out. He should be shut down now. He's an abysmal failure. No further information on him is required. Marco Dano or Dalpe would generate more offense than him.

Wennberg has 4 points in his last 4 games and 5 in his last 7. Don't call it a comeback...but he might hit 30 points just yet!

He gets more “passenger assists” than anyone. I’ve watched all but one period in these games and remain unimpressed so I’ll not call it a comeback.....But on the bright side,
at least he’s doubled Harrington’s goal total.

I mean, he picked up an assist a few games back on Gerbe's goal, I believe, because the puck hit his skate before landing on Gerbe's stick.

I wouldn't call last night's Stenlund goal a "passenger assist".
