Congrats Nats fans!

Crazy series, really happy they won especially after they lost Harper (who IMO, was over-passed as the teams best player by Rendon last year). The fans earned it.

So in the last few years we've had the Nats / Royals/ Stros win their first titles, CUbs break an 108 year drought, Giants break a long drought as well. Good stuff.

This year alone has been nuts.

Blues win their first Stanley Cup (winning 3 games on the road)
Raptors win their first NBA Championship (winning 3 games on the road)
Nats win their first World Series (winning 4 games on the road)

So much for home ice/court/field advantage.

its been 14 years

is there really a sense of anger in montreal over the nats winning the title? its not like when the avs won the cup in '96 right after leaving QC or the rams winning the SB a few years after leaving socal

Lol exactly. There probably isn't even 1 employee left from the Expos days. Nats fans had their own decade + of heartbreak anyways, and had the face of the franchise leave in free agency.

btw. I hope Stras and Rendon stays in Washington.

Lerner had no problem forking over a massive deal for Scherzer so he shouldn't have an issue giving Rendon 200+ million & re-signing Stras to 150 + million, probably closer to 200.

Better him than someone like Ozuna getting a WS ring or the person that signed him.

The person that signed/traded for him already has one but I get your point.

Thats what they get for rubbing it in the face of female reporters.

In that vein...LOL at this list (and the fact none of them were ON the Tigers when winning)

A bunch of baseball rosters these days seems to be teams who drafted well supplemented by veterans who have been through battles. The Brewers for a couple years have basically been half of the 2016 Royals. The good teams decide they've run out of money and their good players end up playing for someone else and contending.

The rest of the Montreal die-hards? I am not trying to be mean, but how many is that? 5k? in a metro area of 3.6 million in 2005.

Most likely should not have pulled Grienke, burn if you are you need to put Cole in there.

You can’t let Osuna pitch to Soto either. Really poorly managed game.

Yeah and this guy is probably gonna be the Mets manager next year. Not sure he’s any better than Mickey Callaway. Anyone can look good when they have that talent

Congrats Nationals, y’all have been through a lot for this to finally come to fruition.

- were atrocious for the first 7 years after moving from MTL
- 2012 Strasbourg shut down in the midst of their first pennant run
- Drew Storen’s choke job in the 2012 ALDS
- much of the same for the next 6 or so years, along with several coaching changes
- Harper stalls for months then decides to leave this past winter
- Nats are 19-31 by the end of May
- Came all the way back to clinch a wild card spot
- went down 3-1 against Milwaukee then somehow scored 3 runs late against arguably the most dominant reliever in the game
- came back late again to beat kershaw and the Dodgers in game 5 in LA
- destroyed St. Louis, the team thats beaten them a couple times before
- won all four road games in WS against the WS favs. Rallied from 2-0 down heading into the 7th against a red hot Greinke
- it was great seeing all those vets on WSH finally getting a ring as many of them suffered countless heartbreaking losses in the past

Scherzer was already headed to Cooperstown but this is a nice add to his resume.

Strasburg on the other hand..... wow he's building himself a hell of a case. Only pitcher to ever go 5-0 in the playoffs, 1.98 ERA, did not have one bad game and this came after his best season as a pro. Cool story as well, 10 years after being picked #1 + being super hyped as the savior of the franchise, he dominates in the playoffs and wins WS MVP. Earned himself more than a couple extra million on his contract. I was also reminded this morning of Tommy John-Gate when they shut him down back in 2012... feels like a lifetime ago.

Also, if the Phillies never win.... Harper will never live this down & also get ready to see this picture for the next week.

I gotta figure Harper will win one in Philly. With the amount of money they have to spend right now it would seem unlikely in the next 5-7 years they don’t win a title

Congrats to the Nats. Scherzer finally getting a ring is pretty cool and Juan Soto is baseball's next superstar.

Kinda sucks as a Braves fan but I take solace in Harper being in shambles and now it'll be easy to ignore the Braves until they do something in the postseason for once again.
