Lyft doesn't operate in Canada.

I have used Uber in many cities and never had an issue. In fact when I am on the road my company will accept Uber or Lyft receipts but not from a cab as the receipt is very detailed.

perfect, thanks again, much appreciated

Going to the sox tonight- any suggestions on where to park ? I don't mind walking a little - I want a clean exit. I wish I could take the subway in and out but I'm afraid it might be shut down by the time the game is over.

Here are a couple of suggestions. You may need to give up your ticket for discounts so if you are a ticket stub collector keep that in mind. All easy walks to Fenway. Also leave extra time to get yourself parked because of the day game garages could be full from the first game and people may go out to eat after the game and leave their cars for several hours after the first game has ended.

Out of the three garages I like the Christian Science Center one the best but the Hynes garage is OK and it is a little closer walk to Fenway.

Hynes Auditorium Garage 50 Dalton Street - $18

Prudential Center Garage - $18. Prudential garage is very confusing so you will want to pay good attention to where in the garage you are parked and where you came out of when you exit from the garage to the street so that you can find your car when you get back.

Christian Science Center Garage - $12 enter after 5pm and exit before 12am. But Red Sox/Yankees games are always long so if the game ends late and you exit after 12am then their weekend rate is $20 for up to 19 hours so it should not cost you more than $20 but you may want to ask an attendant when you enter what your maximum cost might be.

last question and thanks to all those for their advice/directions and other assorted goodies (Fenway:)), were looking for a relaxed dinner near the Garden before the concert Thursday night, not really looking for a sports bar but a Restaurant/Pub that offers good food, fun atmosphere within walking distance to the venue, nothing fancy.

Thanks again, just received our confirmation call from Tresca, more than a little unimpressed Bourque himself isn`t the one making those calls:)

Mrs. Odaat and I will be hitting the Faneuil Marketplace Thursday, drop us a PM if you`d like to meet up

So I get into Boston on Friday morning, are there any interesting events this weekend I should be aware of that I could check out without booking ahead of time?

I think we plan on doing the Sam Adams brewery tour but besides that we aren't really sure.

I'm hoping to be back in Boston this upcoming season to catch my first ever Bruins game, can't wait!!

There's an event this weekend at the Gardner Museum. Also a fun Latin festival in the South End.

Check Boston.com for things to do, many of them free this weekend.

If you're a history nerd the Freedom Trail is fun

I would also suggest hitting up Trillium

Uber in Boston all just introduced in-app tipping. When I was in Nashville last week it hadn't been rolled out there yet, but the driver said everyone should have it by the end of the month.

Got in last night from a great little 3 day getaway to your fine city. Thanks to all for their suggestions. We ate at Tresca night one and it was perfect. Not too fancy, nor is this a pasta factory where they just reheat their meals.

We hit Tavern In the Square prior to the Petty show and loads of great fun there as many were "warming up" for the show.

As always, Petty was amazing. I`ll admit I know little of Peter Wolf who opened other than the J Geils material which he played none of but I really enjoyed his set.

Boston and gulp, Montreal, my fav two cities to catch concerts in, both cities just know and appreciate their music and few cities are as enthusiastic and supportive of opening acts like either of these two are, Wolf was treated to great crowd reaction and standing O at the end and he earned it.

For all the times I have been to Boston, I`ve never taken the time to really get to know the history of the city so Mrs. Odaat and I did the Hop on Hop off Trolley, price was $39+ tax and included a 45 minute boat tour of the Harbor which I didn`t enjoy nearly as much as the tour and the guides on the tour are both incredibly well schooled in the long history of the city and are hilarious to listen to.

The heat was crazy, we took the Green Line everywhere, so handy. We stayed at Boston Park Plaza and from what I heard from other`s, they were paying $300/night, I did not, it pays to shop early, we got our room with King size bed for $219/night when I booked in March. The rooms and small but who cares, we were rarely in it, so central.

Again, thanks to everyone for their advice and guidance, thanks Fenway for the Uber help, much appreciated, as usual, another great visit to a great city. Not sure I could live there as the traffic is just nutso, but we sure love visiting.

Cheers

Happy to hear all went well.

Park Plaza just finished a huge renovation and the hotel has quite the history.

The Green Line has issues but it is 120 years old  but it gets the job done. I live 2 miles from downtown and I never drive in anymore because of the traffic and parking.

I want to visit Halifax at some point and soon both Porter and Westjet will offer direct service to end Air Canada's monopoly.

Come back soon.

Sounds great, we`ll get together, we flew WestJet, direct flight to and from, less than 90 minutes, we try our best to always fly that airline, by far our favorite

My family and I just returned from a trip out east to attend a wedding in Connecticut. I was able to wrangle the better part of 3 days in Boston into the itinerary. We actually flew Vanc. to Boston to start the 9 day trip there. The middle 3 days were in Connecticut and then the last 3 in NY. It may be the best trip we've had as a family. My kids are 17 and 19, so was a real treat to have them along, seeing sights and learning the history that we were able to take in. Being a life-long Bruins fan, I have been to Boston 2 other times to see games. This time though being summer, I was able to plan out an amazing 2 days of sightseeing in your beautiful city.
We were fortunate to take in a Red Sox game (they are my baseball team too!), and they beat the Blue Jays so I was happy; my son not so much.. It was my wife and daughter's first ball game so they found it long.. We stayed in the Back Bay area, so there was time for the girls to wander the shops; they loved that part!
I planned out the following day to take a walking tour of The Freedom Trail, following the red brick line, with stops and descriptions of the historic locations. At certain spots the kids realized the significance of the name I read, as they'd heard it before in school and now were able to soak in that they were there on the spot..
Part way through the Freedom Trail walk, the heat forced my wife to call "detour", and we headed for the waterfront to catch some cooler air. Ended up on the Long Wharf?, and after some pictures and a stop for cool drinks we were back on the Trail. We didn't quite finish it, missing Bunker Hill area and the USS Constitution.
We still had to fit in the North End; I couldn't pass up a stop at the TD Garden that included my first time seeing the Bobby Orr statue. My family chuckled when I pulled from my backpack my ORR jersey for the photos! Awesome pic for my office bulletin board..
We lunched at The Fours. Food was great, but definitely different (much quieter) than my last visit there, which was pre-game beers before a Blackhawks visit. Oh, and I had to have the Bobby Orr sandwich of course!
We toured the Garden, escorted top to bottom from the Pro Shop / Museum group. Great tour, although my son and I had hoped to get a glimpse of the Bruins dressing room - but Visitors room only; (same for Celtics)..But some great Bruins photos on display throughout the upper levels. A great day all round.
We used Uber 3 times, my first experience with it; was easy and the drivers were excellent. Everywhere we went people were so friendly and helpful. My wife's first visit to Boston, and she fell in love with it. Hopefully that transpires into further visits - which would mean more Bruins games for me!:)

For years I've been wanting to visit Boston, and NY (not only for games, but to see the city as well).

My only concern is my safety if I wore my Wings jersey/jacket to the game/s,

Red Wings? Hell they might just buy you a beer. Our hatred burns bright for one logo only, and it isn't a winged wheel. You may get some ribbing, but as long as you know you are in someone else's house and act accordingly*, you will be fine.

*Acting accordingly in someone else's house is often why those fans sporting a toilet seat logo run into trouble. I've been to games with fans from every team in the league; without exception, Habs fans seem the least likely to remember they are in another team's arena. The time in 2011 when they booed the nightly honoring of a US veteran on the jumbotron still pisses me off. I was so glad when the line-brawl beat down happened later in the 3rd.

No trouble in Boston and Rangers fans might give you a hard time but in a good natured way. The only building where visiting fans have problems is Philadelphia.

Hello Bruins fans, long time lurker here who finally decided to register! I'm a huge Bruins fan from Montreal and i'm visiting Boston in October. I have a couple of questions and I was wondering if some of you guys could try to help me out!

- I'll be staying in Framingham and I was wondering what was the best options for me if I want to use the subway to the Garden. I know i can take the train in Framingham but getting to North Station would take 1 hour. I though of driving to Back bay station and then taking the subway to North station. Is there a lot of parking at the Back bay station? Would it be worthwhile to park there or should I try driving directly to the Garden? If not for Back bay station, is there another accesible station with good parking areas that I could use to reach the North station?

- I was also wondering if some of you guys are used to buying tickets on a gameday. I'll be catching a game for sure but I might be able to catch another one right before leaving. Do ticket prices drop on gameday? I heard that they sometimes do on websites like Stubhub, have you guys ever tried it out? And if you did, what was the deadline for buying tickets before a game (1h, 6h, 24h)?

- I would like to be able to catch a Red Sox's match if possible. Do you guys know when the playoffs schedule is annonced? I was thinking of going to Boston in the week of October 16 and I have absolutely no idea if they will still be playing by then ahah!

Thank you guys! :)
