Just finishing up the first, tough go so far the TBL organization is just so vastly superior to ours at every level.

Jett Woo keeps on impressing me, why do they have him with another RHD again? Just causing confusion for both, but he's still making smart plays, playing the body, and jumping in on the rush surprisingly well

The guy with him is a 5th year pro who has never spent a half season in the AHL. He has played 73 AHL games and 135 ECHL games, 208 GP total in 5 years. That's a lot of games scratched. Last season 25 in AHL San Antonio and 26 in ECHL Tulsa. He was not on the original list of 19 players sent to Utica, but San Antonio signed him and he was a last minute addition to the Comets. Maybe the 6 d without him had something to do with it.

An AHL team with 1 actual qualified AHL keeper and a total of 7 -men (2 rookies, 2 with their only experience being depth defenders for a season in the AHL, Wesley, and 2 experienced AHL defenders of whom one has never been stellar is not exactly a well thought out roster. GM Johnson maybe have been at his worst when this team was being finalized. It wouldn't take anything above a moron to notice the roster needed some major readjusting on the back end from the net out.

Hard to believe Johnson could be any worse than he has been....but he is.

Last minute of period goals against.

Short handed goals against.

Cull coaching. Johnson managing.

No D.

Comets will be lucky to win 5 games.

Canucks Army is singing the praises of Carson Focht for his motor and being hard on the puck....but this doesn't jibe with some Utica Comet posters who observed that it looked like he was skating in cement.

Just another polarizing Canuck prospect I guess.

They have won 1 of 2 so far, but the 2nd one, the loss, was pitiful. They were outclassed at every turn with the exception of some good play by the first line which with Baertschi and Anas on the wings is understandable. The goalie battle was a total mismatch. Kielly showed he is not ready to compete at this level.

The Crunch with a Tampa Bay supplied team has been tough enough to play against, but with the addition of the Florida Panthers prospects to the pool they are even more impressive.

Couple that with St.Louis sending the Comets a handful of really good players while Benning and Johnson didn't hold up their end of the bargain, the season outlook is not exactly good. However, the 32-game schedule without playoffs doesn't seem to matter and I would venture that's exactly how Benning/Johnson viewed it. Lind, Jasek, Gazdjovich, Lockwood, and Woo were left with only Baertschi by the Canucks. Had Vancouver added a handful of good hockey players to keep up their end of the bargain like St. Louis did, this could have been a very entertaining 14-game series between the Comets and the Crunch. It doesn't look that way at the moment.

It's been 2 games and he was slow making decision and that led to his skating looking slow at times.

Comments on the Friday game: 3 - 2 win over Rochester. Really the only reason they won was Gillies was outstanding

Lind - was far and away the best player. Scored twice, had chances for others while also creating chances for others. Best thing is that he is much steadier on his skates. Is not constantly picking himself as he was even last season. Much more comfortable and controlled. This League is clearly watered down League but still progression in Lind's game is encouraging.

Jasek - has become a competent AHL center but is nothing more than this

Teves - played a lot. OK in open ice but had lots of trouble down low in his zone. Apparent he was a useless free agent signing as far as the Canucks are concerned.

Focht - thought he had some very good shifts but also some rough ones. Smart player who is good at creating and using open ice. Made some good passes and was decent on faceoffs. Not bad for a first game. Will need to gain more strength

Lockwood - good skater and goes to the body. Can bring pressure but needs to be more controlled. Needs to work better along the boards in his own end. Did a good job at times of disturbing the play of Rochester. Did not see any high end offensive talent.

Gadjovich - scored but needs to make himself more prominent. Lots of shifts you don't even know he is on the ice.

Woo - needs to expand his zone of coverage and be stronger on the puck. Did a god job of moving the puck up quickly and in providing an outlet for his defensive partner (in most cases Eliot _ who wasn't
very good). Not always getting up the ice quickly enough to support the play

None of the St Louis players impressed me except Gillies

So are all Routsalsinen’s Swedish decent? Like Vikings or something? We need some Vikings on our team.
A lot of Finns are of Swedish descent in general (and vice versa), but I'd take it as about as reliable as understanding that someone called "Baker" probably had a male-line ancestor some time back who was a baker, and maybe not even then. The more obvious Fenno-Swedes are those with the "wrong language" name for their country – like with Tommy Salo being Swedish and Markus Granlund being Finnish.

And for what it's worth, there is plenty of Viking DNA all over Europe, what with the Danes and Norse having conquered so much of it (above all parts of England, France and Ireland) way back when. All those red-headed Scots and Irish don't look too much like the Celtic inhabitants of those places.

I really hope Rathbone and Rafferty find their way to Utica soon.....it's rapidly becoming a 'waste of a season' for both guys.

Former Comet Cam Darcy is skating at centre for Binghamton.
Good for Cam....was always a high-character, quality guy for the Comets. An honest hockey player through and through.

This Pandemic has been doubly tough on AHL players and kids who signed their first pro contract. Hopefully by next season they'll all be able to resume their careers and play the game they love, no matter what level that is at.

Comets to the PK

Wesley 2 for cross checking.

2 saves for Kielly

Comets clear

Comets just sitting in the box and the Devils keep passing it around and finally score.
