I'd like to say a few things for you guys. Cheer up :)

1) We have Developed some extremely good talent that makes tanking not a real possibility

In the Current NHL i would say players stack up something like this:
1st Line Player 60-80+ Pts
2nd Line Player 45-55 Pts
3rd Line Player 25-35 Pts
4th Line Player 10-20 Pts

Nyquist: (4th Rounder, #121)(2008)
28G, 20A, 57GP
27G, 27A; 82 GP
14G, 15A; 52 GP

I would say Nyquist is a high end 2nd Line Forward. I think most teams would be happy to get this type of player with an average 1st rounder. We got him as a 4th rounder.

Tatar: (2nd Rounder, #60)(2009)
19G, 20A, 73GP
29G, 27A; 82 GP
15G, 16A; 51 GP

I would say Tatar is also a high end 2nd Line Forward. Again 1st rounder material drafted in the 2nd round.

Sheahan: (1st Rounder, #21)(2010)
9G, 15A; 42GP
13G, 23A; 79GP
7G, 6A; 50GP

I would say Sheahan currently produces like a 3rd Liner. drafted in the 1st round, I would think we would be happy if we got him in the 1st or 2nd round. Hopefully he keeps developing.

Pulkkinen: (4th Rounder, #111)(2010)
5G, 3A; 31GP
6G, 6A; 29GP

Producing as a 3rd liner, but the fact that we got him as a 4th rounder is a big win for us

Mrazek: (5th Rounder, #141)(2010)
Stats: Awesomeness :) - Most teams would be happy to pick a Mrazek as a 1st rounder.

Jurco: (2nd Rounder, #35)(2011)
8G, 7A; 36GP
3G, 15A; 63GP
3G, 2A; 29GP

Currently underperforming, his production has dropped to 4th liner levels.

XO, Sproul (Still Prospects)
Marchenko (7th Rounder, #205)(2011)
-Has earned a position on the bottom pairing. Great!

Athanasiou (4th Rounder, #110)(2012)
1G, 1A; 7GP
-Looks like he will be much better than your average 4th rounder.

Mantha (1st Rounder, #20) (2013)
Prospect

Larkin: (1st Rounder, #15)(2014)
18G, 19A; 51GP

Larkin Clearly has impressed. He is producing like a solid 2nd line player right now. But I think it is clear he is going to be a 1st liner for us moving forward.

Evgeny Svechnikov: (1st Rounder, #19)(2015)
Prospect

This is alot of good talent that we have produced in the last 7 years.
I like watching our players develop and still compete each year. Zetterberg and Datsyuk may be declining a little, But I do feel that we are capable of beating any team in the NHL on a given night. Lets look for a little more positivity around here Boys !

:D

2) Debunking the myth that Detroit has been bad since 2009

Many people suggest we have been bad for a long time 2009/2010, here is my short response to that theory:

2008 - 115 pts, 1st Seed in West (#1 Seed - Season pts) - Won Stanley Cup

2009 - 112 pts, 2nd Seed in West (#3 Seed - Season pts) - Lost in Stanley Cup (to Pit #8 Seed OA, #4 in East)

2010 - 102 pts, 5th Seed in West (#7 Seed - Season pts) - Lost in 2nd Round (to SJ #2 Seed OA, #1 Seed in West)
(We were the 5th Seed this year because 4 of the best teams in the league were all in the same conference! (STL, NSH, DET, CHI)

2011 - 104 pts, 3rd Seed in West (#5 Seed - Season Pts) - Lost in 2nd Round (to SJ #4 Seed OA, #2 Seed in West)

2012 - 102 pts, 5th Seed in West (#6/7 Tie Seed - Season Pts) - Lost in 1st round (to NSH #5 Seed OA, #4 Seed in West)(Note 3rd Seed lower in season pts PHX)

At this point I would still have called our team a contender (implies we have a chance to win the stanley cup). We were no worse than the 7th best team in the League.

*Lidstrom Retirement.

2013 - 56 pts, 7th Seed in West (#12/13/14 Tie Seed - Season Pts) - Lost in 2nd round (to CHI #1 Seed OA, #1 Seed in West)(This is the first year we are worse than 7th best team in the league)

2014 - 93 pts, 8th Seed in West (#14/15 Tie Seed - Season Pts) - Lost in 1st round (to BOS #1 Seed OA, #1 Seed in East)

2015 - 100 pts, 6th Seed in East (#11/12 Tie Seed - Season Pts) - Lost in 1st round (to TB #5 Seed OA, #3 in East)

Its only these last few years where we have dipped to being more middle of the road playoff team.

IMO We had an ELITE team in 2008/2009
A great team in 2010/2011/2012
And an Average playoff team in 2013/2014/2015

Lets get a grip and have a little perspective here. This is a pretty good track record. If your complaint is "we should remain ELITE forever"... get real, thats impossible.

We've got a great name, we've got a great team, we've got a great logo, and we've got a great name.

Thanks for starting this tread, great work. I myself have been thinking about starting a positive-only tread, but figured such a tread wouldn't be very popular on this board, where everyone is all doom and gloom.

I guess I see things a little different than a lot of you guys. I've only been a fan of the Red Wings (and the NHL) for about 2.5 years, meaning I haven't been spoiled by those amazing and dominating cup-winning teams of the past.

I still love and have faith in this team

Jurco has been awesome recently.

Forever it seemed like whenever he had the puck he was scared of it. He would want to pass it away asap, and whenever he would try to make a play he wouldn't do it confidently and he would screw up.

Recently hes had the puck on his stick a lot and has made some good plays, and has been able to start a cycle game with his 4th line friends.

I believe Jurco deserves a shot in the top 6 again.

Only saw a portion of the last game but Jurco was buzzing. Smith has been great the last month +. Larkin always excellent

Good thing about Jurco is he is capable of playing 4th line if necessary. Pulks is totally useless anywhere not top9. That said I'd like for the SheTarCo line to get back together. They were for a game or two and they looked good. Jurco's looked good. I, like others, don't like Nyquist/Tats on the same line. I think they'll be good together as they have been before.

Yeah, give us the kids line back. Always loved their chemistry and the energy they were playing with.
