Something like that. And relative safety, but theres more Lee way there. Like I just dont want to go to Guatemala.

You're willing to drive that far? Guatemala is a hike. Driving south of the States should not be taken lightly, much better off staying in the States.

Borekk? you fly the Twotter?

Taking kids back to visit my parents in middle of nowhere (check that far edge of nowhere) Quebec this summer. Flights starts as a Dash-8 out of YUL, then B1900, final 2 legs are the Twotter (favorite plane to fly on). Flight starts and ends in Quebec and will cost a small fortune.

Kuujuaq??

Yup!!

2 years in the Maldives flying the DHC-6 on floats......then 1year on the BE-100 in Resolute Bay........prior was northern Saskatchewan/Manitoba on the DHC-2 and DHC-3T.......flew PA31-350 and DHC-6 on wheels

Skies, floats, tundra tires, short rwys.....now it’s Europe, South America, Mexico and across our continent in the 76-3......

Alright,a good drive that can be done in 1 shot. Nice ocean and waves,at times. Hot and humid but reasonable costs.
Easily, when I go to Florida from Ottawa, I’m able to go all the way to South Carolina in one shot.....we normally leave at 4am sharp to avoid border line ups

If you can fly to Japan for less than 2 k for 2 people without some perks, tell me how. We got some interests there and go a few times a year,no need to tell me the cost of things there.

I was under the impression that is was that budget for 2 people.
I'm talking 2k per person... the fly ticket alone was 950$

When I was up in Resolute, we used to eat Arctic Char on a weekly basis......and in the summer we’d always have Icebergs that would be landlocked at low tide.....so we used to drive up to them, bring some wood and build a fire and chip off the ice and put them in our drinks (whiskey).....it was so f***in cool (no pun intended)

It's a mystery to me where they put all the fuel in planes, I know the wings hold some, but it seems like so little.
In the belly also.....we have Centre tanks, that’s the belly, and main tanks, the wings

Fuel is heavy man lol....when we take off outnof Lima, we have about 110,000lbs of gas on the plane, it’s loco Mano lol

The centre tank usually doesnt hole much, though? I think it's like 25% for most?

Wow that is some varied flying.

Northeastern part of Quebec, lower north shore. More East than north I guess, it is that bit of QC south of Labrador and opposite Newfoundland. No road access and short gravel strips at the end with DHC-6 service to the larger paved strips. Before they built those strips it was DHC-2/DHC-3 on floats in summer and skis in winter. Always preferred the beaver over the original non-turbine otters. The Otter always seemed under powered. I don't how much of the lake they needed to take off, but I knew how much they used - all off it.

I don't go back as often as I used too. Over the years there have been various operators and various plane types. Dash/ATR-42/HS748/Saab 340/Navajo/1900/king air/EMB 120 and the Dhc-2/3/6 Caravan and even a BN Islander for the gravel strip legs. Not a fan of the islander or the Navajo, anything with wings that small needs missiles at the tips.

It is a completely different flying experience even as a passenger, especially pre 9/11. As a student in Montreal in the late 90's, one year I basically hitched a ride back with the chief pilot of the operator at the time who was picking up a DHC-6 and ferrying it back. Another time, with the same operator we blew a tire on landing in Quebec (Beech 1900C) and I helped pilot (who was a friend) and maintenance guy change it.

Wanted to go to Halifax next week to see my friend who plays in the CPL with the Wanderers. Almost 800$ for the plane ticket. So it will be either by car, either Los Angeles for 700$.

Yep, intracanada prices are ridiculous.

I made the drive in 18 hours from MTL to Halifax if you wonder, total gas cost was about 600 back and forth but I was driving a Jeep on 35's, so take that down a few hundreds for anything else.

Lol.....you know about airplanes just as much as I do lol

HAWKER was an old piece of junk, te SAA340 is a dog, B1900 though now you’re talking, it was my dream plane many years ago.

Navajo was a great plane to learn on though, yes little wings but it holds a special place in my heart as it was my first Multi Command plane......DHC-2 was my favourite though, there’s nothing cooler than flyingba radial engine....has that WWII feel to it.

Now it’s a 767-300ER and the 757-200....it’s got its perks but I do miss the Bush flying and island hoping in the Indian ocean on that Twin Otter, lagoon to lagoon flying around with hot chicks.....oh ya baby :D

Deep down I envy you. It was always a dream of mine to fly small airplanes like that. Big commercial ? I don't know, I guess the pay is good, but there's something so scary about piloting something that huge. I wonder, how much control do you actually feel ?

I have always been a bit of an aviation/hot chick fanatic. More experience with planes than the hot chicks though. Love the sound of those old radial engines, with the occasional misfire on startup. B1900 is by far the best of those 20-30 seat regional turbo props. Fast too, When I used to take it YQB to YZV, Jazz's Dash 8 always left 10 mins before us but we would pass it and arrive first.
I think the 757 is my favorite narrow body. It is a shame that it is out of production. It seems like Boeing and Airbus have spent the last 20 years stretching the 737 and 320/321 into what the 757 already was. Hope to get a chance to fly the C-series (I guess A220 now) soon. Delta as a few in North America now.
