At the beginning of the season is was reported on HNIC that there was a deal in place last season involving Lupul for Toffoli+.

Imagine what could have been had this trade been made.

It is becoming painfully obvious that Lupul CANNOT stay healthy and with the depth we've added and the emergence of some of the young guys (Kozun, Leivo), maybe this is as good a time as ever to move him.

What teams do you see as potential suitors for Lupul and what do you think we could get back for him at this point?

Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but Toffoli would have been a homerun.

Yeah, that's pure hindsight and I doubt that it's legitimate. I've also heard LA flat out refused to move Toffoli because they were really high on him, so who knows?

Also, again, at the trade deadline last year, the Leafs hadn't collapsed yet, so moving Lupes wasn't really on Nonis' mind at the time. And who can blame him, really?

Go back in time, make Lupul stay home from that practice, and then trade him for Paul Martin. ;)

once he gets his yearly injury out of the way early, then maybe his 2nd one...he should be good for last 30 or so games in the year and playoffs...and lupul can still play at good level when healthy

Don't want Lupul traded, im not like most you bandwagoners that loved him 2 seasons ago then he has 1 bad season and its all fk his contract is awful get this clown out of toronto asap. Too many dumb leafs fans need to learn to stick to one side

We start winning some games and looking good and leaf fans want to trade all our good players again.

every team has a glass man. ours is Lupul.
and even if we traded him the next player who has mangames lost often is Bozak, and as much as people hate him - he's helpful to our lineup

and if it's not him it will be someone else.

Let's be patient with Lupul, let him come back and hopefully heat up as he was playing well.

Then we gotta trade him.

I just think we can do better in that position for that contract and he's too injury prone.

Lupul has been excellent this year, possession monster.

When your skilled players are having good possession years, you have to hold on to them. Have strong possession also makes players that aren't the strongest defensively less of a liability.

The Lupul for Toffoli rumour is crap. That would absolutely never happen. Lombardi is a smart man.

a) there's a trade discussion thread sticked

b) Lupul is injured for an indefinite amount of time and cannot be traded

I'm not against the idea of trading Lupul but I don't think this is thread worthy at this time
