I watch both guys play a ton of hockey. Trust me when I tell you that it's not close. Slavin would be Calgary's best defenseman (maybe best player).

Watch him over a full season and you'll understand what I'm talking about. If Slavin played in Calgary McDavid only scores 95 points last year. He is a black hole for the league's superstars.

He would definitely not be our best defenseman.

IMO he most definitely would. He would be the team's best shut down D by far, while still providing great puck moving ability to create offense.

Then why is Klingberg and Ristolainen ranked worse than Lindholm, Brodie, etc.?

Based on what? Have you watched a lot of Slavin?

If the flames truly had 3 defenseman better than Slavin they'd be a much much better defensive team.
