I have never golfed past a shooting range twice, however I feel Id pick it up quite easily having played hockey my entire life.

I also do well in sports where there is more rhythm-based movement, though the faster pace helps prevent me from over thinking so that'd be a hoop Id have to jump through.

Golf is a whole other animal I've found. You see a lot of naturally talented and athletic people struggle with it. A lot of it is just what you said. It's not instinctual. It gives you a ton of opportunity to think and second guess yourself.
