Discuss how much you hate or like the shootout here, you can also discuss, say, who we put up in shootouts and anything else related to shootouts.

IMO this should be our shootout lineup:

1) P.K Subban
2) Alex Galchenyuk
3) Lars Eller
4) David Desharnais
5) Max Pacioretty

RIP: The forgotten man, P.A. Parenteau.

As to the thread question, the shootouts have become more fun since the team's become good at them. No denying the pleasure at seeing Desharnais pull his mutant power on the goalie, or Price switching on his magical force-field.

It's a fun distraction, but nothing more than a distraction.

I sort of like it and we are looking better but really I hope the league goes to three-on-three in OT, which could effectively eliminate the shootout.

I'm not a fan of the shootout, but your line-up is hilarious. I know it's popular to hate Davey, but he's got one of the best percentages in the league (if not the best, among regular shooters). He should ALWAYS be in our Top-3 as long as he's on the team.

DD, PAP, Eller, and Galchenyuk are the best choices.. and some of the best choices in the entire NHL.

Not a fan, but healey made me cringe last night when he was talking about 3 on 3. "Why not go the traditional route" he said. There is nothing traditional about 3vs3, it's just another gimmick. I never understood the problem with ties, and I still don't.

Same. The SO is so anti-climatic. You play 65 minutes of actual hockey and then determine a game by a skills competition.

I have been against the stupid SO since it started and I doubt that ever changes. But since the regular season is just about getting ready for the playoffs and there's no SO's when the real hockey season starts I guess I can live with it. I have heard the talk about changing OT up. Going from 5 minutes 4 on 4 to 5 minutes 3 on 3 then SO if no winner. Not sure what to make of it but I think I might like it better then the current model.

A team game shouldn't come down to an individual play. Its a gimmick and I hate it. I'd rather have tied games, like the old days.

I agree with DD going first. I think Subban should be in there before Gally, Pacioretty and Pleks. Same with Markov. I think Beaulieu should be in there before Pleks.

I think Malhotra should be in there before Pleks.

I think Weise should be given a chance in the shootout. He scored on the penalty shot earlier this season.

I dont like the idea of distributing points based on a breakaway competition, but I must admit, I'm glued to my seat everytime I see one.

If I had my way, a shootout win would only be worth 1/3 as much as a regulation win.

3 points for a regulation win
2 points for OT win
1 point for shootout win
0 points for any kind of loss.

This point system gives plenty of incentive for teams to stay away from the shootout, but the league will never go for it.

You say its a fun distraction, but that's easy to say when were in first with a 6-1 shoot out record

switch our shoot out record with bostons and we are in 5th in the east
give LA our so record and they're in 2cnd in pacific instead of 5th

and you can thank the most hated 2 players on the boards for that

It's funny cause I'm really anti-shootout... yet whenever it happens I'm riveted, lol. But I still want it gone, I don't know the best way to do so cause I know the NHL won't take back ties or let games go on forever. I think my favourite temporary solution is just increase OT time and add some 3 on 3 to OT. Doing both would dramatically reduce shootouts to a case of 'alright we gotta get this done folks' as opposed to something happening far too often IMO.

I just know that I don't wanna see Gallagher in the first round of shooters. Hands of a grinder.

As much as I don't like DD, I have to admit he is pretty damn good in the shootout. It's his thing.

Chuckie-DD-PAP = automatic 2 points
