San Jose, California - This is breaking news out of the San Jose front office. The Sharks have traded F Daniel Alfreddson to the St. Louis Blues. In exchange for the crafty right winger, the Sharks will recieve F Pavol Demitra and $1 million dollars cash. This deal now frees up around 3 million dollars for the Sharks this year season dumping Alfredsson's 4.7 millon dollar contract, and picking up the Demitra's 2.4 million dollar contract. "Alfredsson is a great hockey player, but this move was a business decision, not one based on his character, he was great on and off the ice for us" said Sharks General Manager David Astles. Alfredsson declined to comment after tonights 5-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Since recieving the Sharks in the offseason GM Astles has been concocting was to fix the financial situation of a stong on-ice product, "Pavol [Demitra] brings versatility and talent to our first line, and should fit well with Peter [Forsberg] and Peter [Elias]". Look for Demitra to make his Sharks debut in their next game at home versus the Dallas Stars.
