Its completely reasonable to believe the Rangers will go off board pick someone besides Kakko.
The last two drafts are proof of it.

I don’t think you understand the draft or what off the board means

So splain me then.

There were 4 confused humans on TV when the Rangers took Kravtov last year.
Everybody expected them to take that goalie at the top of the second.
Right?
I think one poster predicted Lias.

Personally it would be delusional not to pick Hughes or Kakko.
But Im not the Rangers scouting and player development team.
They have never been what you can call conventional.

How bout you ‘splain to me why network scouting lists are the lists that should be followed. How bout you also ‘splain to me how anything you brought up means that you understand the draft or what being off the board means

I dont believe a team would change player rating philosophy no matter where they are picking.

I was not talking about player rating philosophy.

At 2nd overall, there's no dispute who is the best player. It's not even close. Not even Chiarelli would pick another player in that position

Bob McKenzie literally called them picking Kravstov.

You fix stuff? You should probably start with your ears and eyes.

Thats what he was saying the day of.
His ranking was all over. Mostly mid to bottom of the first round.
One second and one third round even
His film was rock star all over. I think it was a miracle he made it to 9

First, you have no idea what you’re talking about.

Second, Bob already confirmed that you’re wrong a few days ago.

Third, perhaps you should go off the board for a few days.

Even Chiarelli took Seguin 2nd overall. Lol

It’s virtually unheard of for a team to go off the board with a top 2 pick.

Bob said the night before that Kravstov was a late riser, had him at 11, and even said before our pick we were taking him. It wasn’t an off the board pick at all. Also such a different situation picking at 9 versus 2.

That’s because networks don’t pay to send their scouts to random games in Russia just for a list, they rely heavily on international tournaments and reading star sheets for their viewings of those kids

And while we’re at it: a year later, were the Rangers wrong?

It's important to note that after the cream of the crop come off the board, the tiers of players following the elite are usually pretty closely rated.

Last year it was Dahlin on an island by himself, Svechnikov on another one by himself, and then a whole mess of guys who could have gone anywhere between 3-12.

The middle of the 1st was even more over the place, with teams going "off the board" a whole bunch. When there is a no brainer pick, it's always made.

This is true, but my overall point is that it wasn’t exactly an off the board pick, and picking at 9 is a different universe of a situation than the top 2.
