I'm too stupid to figure it out but if the Isles come in second who would be the likely match up in the first round?

Division winners play the wildcards. 1-8 and other division winner plays the other wild card.
2nd plays 3rd place within each division with Home ice based on points

I've asked before but can't remember the answer, does anyone know a website that has all the various playoff structures with today's records to help see what the standings would look like with different point systems?

So...predictions. I had them slated for a drop to 3rd, taking it a step further, WC1 spot.

Anyone else?

Tonight was a huge 2 pts. Isles closing in on a 100 pt season with 10 games to go. Who would have thought this at the beginning of the year.

91 pts.. 10 games left. tied for first with tiebreaker (kind of).. Been a bit rougher lately but I think all of us would have signed up for this... No one will be easy in round one but I would rather play the Canes than any of the other options (except Montreal but they seem to be on life support)...

The last 10 games are going to be real tough ones.
The way they are playing I see 5-4-1 down the stretch

Caps 7-3-0 105 points
NYI 5-4-1 102 points
Pens 5-2-2 101 points
——-
Canes 7-3-1 100 points
CBJs 5-4-1 97 points

Prediction - mixed bag but Isles separate themselves from the wild card teams and 9th place but remain very tight with Caps and Pens for top 3 in the Metro.

Caps. 1-0-1. +3 points = 92
Islanders 2-1. +4 points = 91
Pens 2-0-1 +5 points = 90

Canes 1-0-1. +3 points = 86
CBJ. 1-1 +2 points = 83
—————————————————
Habs 0-1-1. +1 point = 82

Actuals since Thursday leaves us
Isles 2-1 91
Caps 1-2 91
Pens 1-2 88
————-
Canes 1-1 85
CBJ 1-0-1 84
_______
Habs 0-2. 81

It figures I only got the Isles right.
Only CBJ did better than projected

I just hope that Lehner and Greiss are the MAIN reasons we get points over the last 10 games.

Because THEY are going to have to be the difference come playoff time.

At the moment, I have ZERO faith in this team suddenly finding the offense to take things to another level, especially when things become more intense in the playoffs, where we'll hopefully be healthy enough to bring OUR shutdown game.

And let's be honest - the MC² line will set the tone for both teams. If they aren't effective in doing their "thang", then that could the death knell over the course of 7 games.

Another question I found myself asking last night was:
- With 10 games left, will we even score another 20 regular season goals?

I'm not sure that happens!

It’s hard to see them staying this offensively inept for another 10 plus games. We will see but perhaps they timed this perfectly to avoid having it happen in the last couple of weeks or the playoffs. Remember too that style of play in the playoffs tends to cater more to the style this team is playing. You rarely see 6-5 or 5-4 games multiple times in a series.

Agree. You see tighter, low(er) scoring games in the playoffs, just like the Isles are playing.

This is why the Devils always surprised everyone. They usually were top 2 in GA and generally bottom 15 in GA. They were often the lowest scoring or 2nd lowest scoring playoff team going in. They just scored ugly dirty goals for the most part in April May and June. Remember how in 2003 they were the only team who was able to figure out Giguere and they did it mostly with deflections and screens
