Sounds like Burke will be in charge of all hockey operations, likely overseeing an overhaul of the scouting, analytics, and other departments. Hextall will be in charge of player acquisition and management, handle the day-to-day issues.

"In their new roles, Hextall will oversee the Penguins' day-to-day hockey operations, reporting to Burke as his primary advisor. Burke will report to David Morehouse, the team's president and CEO."

Burke is replacing Karmanos' old role of being the intermediary between the GM and Morehouse. Have no problems with that. He and Hextall will work together to come up with a game plan for what they want the team to be like, and then he'll let Hextall do the trades and transactions and he'll deal with Morehouse.

I...don't think I was asking for either of these.

Not saying it won't work, and possibly getting Burke more limited airwave time is to everyone's benefit. Hextall ain't married to any of this coaching staff - hiring wise - either. Who knows, we may just be embracing chaos early. Early-ish.

The timeline of this season is hard to track
