With the recent trade of PIT 1 2016 and pending graduations of Max Domi, Joonas Donskoi, Alex Petrovic and Frankie Corrado, the HFNHL Penguins have released their update top 10 prospect list.

Top 10.
1. Brock Boeser – NCAA - RW
Played in a supporting role for Team USA at the WJC and has a starring first line role with UND in the NCAA. A very good draft +1 season for this recent NHL first rounder.
NHL RIGHTS: Canucks
NHL COMPARABLE: Tyler Toffoli

2. Brendan Perlini – OHL - LW
Another strong prospect camp had Perlini’s NHL team considering including him on opening day roster however a lackluster training camp meant another season in the OHL for this promising winger. Large and fast with a goal scorers instinct, Perlini will need to work on his intensity and defense if he wants to carve out an NHL role in the top 6.
NHL RIGHTS: Coyotes
NHL COMPARABLE: James Neal

3. Michael Spacek – WHL - C
Counted on by his WHL team in the top 6, Spacek also had a good WJC leading his CZE team in points and earning the HFNHL Penguins $1 million in endorsements. His smooth style and smart play at C has earned his coaches trust and positions this player well to make a transition to the Pro game.
NHL RIGHTS: Jets
NHL COMPARABLE: Mikael Backlund

4. Gustav Forsling – SEL – D
A surprise winner of the 2015 top dman at the WJC, this slightly built player is known for his cannon of a shot and offensive instincts. Forsling needs to continue to work on his defensive presence but has a chance to be effective in the NHL with the right coaching and d partner.
NHL RIGHTS: Blackhawks
NHL Comparable: Jared Spurgeon

5. Ryan Gropp – WHL – LW
Sharing a line with scoring wizard Matthew Barzal, Gropp hasn’t disappointed. His nose for the net and command of the puck in the offensive zone is the hallmark of his game. Another player that will need to work on intensity and defensive awareness if he wants to make it to the next leel.
NHL RIGHTS: Rangers
NHL COMPARABLE: Matt Read

6. JT Compher – NCAA – C
Captain of his Michigan Wolverine hockey team, Compher is a tenacious energy player that leads by hard work and sacrifice. With 43 points in 30 games, Compher is 2 points from earning $1,000,000 endorsement for the HFNHL Penguins.
NHL RIGHTS: AVALANCHE
NHL COMPARABLE: Cody Eakin

7. Louis Belpedio – NCAA – D
Another natural born leader, this undersized puck moving dman is a fierce competitor and someone teammates look up to. Captain of the USA U17 team, he graduated to the WJC where he played a supporting role.
NHL RIGHTS: Wild
NHL COMPARABLE: Kris Russell

8. Ville Husso – FHL – G
A tall athletic goaltender, Husso is playing a leading role his Finnish Pro team. Currently top 4 for both GAA and Save %, this is another prospect that is close to ready to make the move to the AHL.
NHL RIGHTS: Blues
NHL COMPARABLE: Annti Raanta

9. Brendan Gaunce – AHL – F
Former first rounder has seen a significant improvement in his foot speed and hasn’t looked out of place in his short call up to the NHL. Destined to be a role player, he is well known for his leadership and Captain Serious demenour.
NHL RIGHTS: Canucks
NHL COMPARABLE: Brooks Laich

10. Cole Cassels – AHL - C
Coming off an impressive final season in the OHL and receiving accolades for shutting down Connor McDavid, Cassels hasn’t had similar success yet in the AHL. Tenacious in the defensive zone and good puck skills means there should be an NHL career for this player.
NHL RIGHTS: Canucks
NHL COMPARABLE: Dave Bolland

HONORABLE MENTIONS
1. Boo Nieves – NCAA – F
NHL RIGHTS: Rangers
NHL COMPARABLE: Mason Raymond

2. Andre Mironov – KHL – D

Pens name new Captain & Associates

With long time heart & soul of the team, Kevin Bieksa, leaving in Free Agency, the club is proud to announce its newest captain.

Ryan O'Reilly is the engine of the team and has grown into a leader of our dressing room. Entering the final year of a team friendly contract, the club expects to extend this core player into a long term contract before the end of the season.

Joining O'Reilly in our leadership group is Justin Williams & Brent Burns.

Williams with his championship pedigree and Burns as our best player make excellent choices to lead us into a season of great expectations.

Penguins are pleased to add Eric Staal and Darren Helm to the organization. As we enter our playoff push we wanted to give our team the best chance we could to compete deep into the post season.

When healthy we believe this team is Deep, Diversified and Dynamic.

In a shocking move, the Penguins have fired Willie Desjardins, their Stanley Cup winning coach.

We wish him all the best but the owner didn't like him so he is gone.

We are pleased to welcome Phil Housley and look forward to one of the brightest up and coming coaches to take our squad on the journey to "2-time Champs".
