If there is any way we can snag Couturier out of Philly... Eller 2.0

If we steal anyone from Philly, it should be Simmonds 10 times out of 10. He's the prototypal power forward that we are lacking SO MUCH. He'd make Desharnais thrive, and would be awesome to play alongside Galchenyuk.

Hmmm, I'd have to think about it. B.Schenn and Hartnell are also interesting forwards.
But our main issue is defense so Coburn is definitely who I'd be targeting.
That being said, I would love Simmonds too.

Markov+ for Coburn+Simmonds?

I doubt we'd get Coburn and you can forget about Simmonds. And Markov unfortunately has a no trade.

Markov can be convinced to waive his NTC..

But I agree, it'd be unlikely to get Simmonds. Still, if there's a player we could grab, I'd take him :handclap:

Coburn is awful guys. How many times did I told you?

Coburn is not playing in a comfortable spot in Philly. I would take him in a top 4 spot, depending on who we'd have to give up. I wouldn't give a lot for him.

Moving Markov would hurt us more than help us. His value will always be greater to us.

Disagreed. People are saying we have a bad D-core, but that's only because of a few injuries. We can afford to let go of Markov if we have strong return value. Just look at this:

Emelin-Subban
Gorges-Tinordi
Murray/Diaz-Bouillon

it'S actually pretty solid, with our top pairing able to play toe-to-toe against the best in the NHL. Gorges will be a great fit for Tinordi.

Obviously, the key is: a healthy D core. But while trading Markov would hurt our PP, it would free up a left-side spot for Emelin to take up.

On Bell there's a free Centre Ice preview. Instead of it lasting all of October, it only goes to the 19th.

New Jersey-Edmonton is on.

I'm not sure if this is on other providers other than Bell.

I think he's just being used improperly. He's a good blueliner.

He's not a superstar or anything but he's steady and I think he'd do very well paired with a true number one.

I think moving Markov for him would be awesome. Markov is diminishing returns now. Diaz could take his place at this point and Cobourn would step in and give Tinordi time to develop.

Coburn's in his late 20s. Yes, our PP wouldn't be as lethal but it would be good enough. We'd sacrifice a strength to address a weakness and we've still got Beaulieu coming up.

I highly doubt that they'd give us Coburn for Markov though. Why would they?

No to trading Markov. Just no. And im not saying that for sentimental reasons.

Simmonds would be my first pick for us. We need to get bigger, especially on RW. I would take B.Schenn as my second choice.

But they won't trade us them so this is all wishful thinking

Jagr scores for the Devils.

He's entering his 20th NHL season.

Yakupov is entering his 20th year in life.

Oh they definitely do, in the worst possible way.

But why get a guy who's at the end of his career? Doesn't make sense. Maybe they'd do it for Diaz (if they think he's the real deal) but not Markov.

Because what Markov can bring to the table isn't necessarily based on his athletic abilities. He's still got a few years in the can, and when paired with someone who's strong and physical, he's proven to be a very, very legit top-pairing man (proof: Emelin-Markov pairing last year). Philadelphia is rolling in these strong, physical D-man. Markov would thrive there like a fish in water.

Diaz... just isn't anywhere near Markov's effectiveness.

Philly just gave stupid money to an old PP specialist in Streit. While Markov is better at everything except shooting, he still has limited value to Philly.

Their backline needs speed. MAYBE we would be able to trade them Diaz, and we'd get like Talbot in return.

Oilers are still awful, that team needs an entire management overhaul.

Diaz isn't really fast.
