How do you force an owner to sell
team? Maybe if it happen the team get relocated?

According to Silver...
The NBA commissioner...
The league has the authority to do it...
And he needs 3/4 of the owners' votes.
With 29 other teams...
That is about 22 teams.
I hope he gets it...
But I think there are some reluctant owners.

First...
This was a taped conversation...
So there are privacy issues.
Plus...
If this precedent is set...
Whatever the owner says...
Or do...
Outside of the NBA may be held against them from now on.

Regardless...
I hope they do the right thing...
And just outright ban this guy and anyone associated with him.
He is a big racist...
And how he acts in his real life...
Is consistent with what he said on the tape.

The guy is in his 80's, hopefully he does the right thing and just step away and allow the team to be sold. Issue an apology, put the team up for sale, and enjoy the rest of his life. Hopefully he doesn't feel the need to spend his remaining years tied up in court.

So that dog that was stabbed in Surrey last night belongs to a friend of my mothers. Can't believe some punk ass kid would stab a dog 12 times. Hope he gets railroaded in prison.

maybe the LA CLippers will relocate to seattle or vancouver?

I doubt it.
Despite being the butt of a lot of jokes for the last 20 to 30 years...
It still gets decent attendance...
And it has a pretty good following.
It is likely staying put.

If Sterling actually sells...
Which is another question all to itself...
Then it will become the new owner or owners' call.
The front runner...
According to the rumour mills...
Is Magic Johnson though...
So it is very likely to stay in L.A.

I think Magic went on twitter and denied any interest in purchasing the team.

There was a stank to the Clippers franchise before.

Then they got lucky with Griffin and gifted Paul by Stern.

Just a bad taste in everyone's mouths now in regards to the whole franchise.

Be interesting to see how they recover.

Ok.
I did a quick refresher...
And the proposed deal was a three-way deal between Lakers, Hornets and Rockets.
Lakers get Paul...
Rockets get Gasol...
And the Hornets get Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Lamar Odom, Goran Dragic and a 2012 first-round pick, at 16th overall in the end.
The Clippers deal originally called for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu, Eric Bledsoe, and a 2012 pick, which turned out to be 10th overall...
But eventually Bledsoe was kept out...
And it became 4 players and a pick.
Looking back...
The Lakers deal is decent...
And it is better now...
Because Dragic turned into a very good player...
Even if Kevin Martin and Luis Scola became bench players...
And Odom was out of the league.
I was wrong...
And I have to agree with your assessment.

Who knows what would happen to the Clippers?
They will be fine...
Attendance wise...
Once Sterling is removed...
But players may want to be traded...
And the franchise falls to mediocrity...
Again.

To be fair...
Paul wanted to be in L.A...
And that Lakers deal was a rip-off.

Lakers deal was a rip-off? Wasn't Gasol going the other way?

My mistake.
I checked it again...
And it was a decent offer.

It is even better now because Dragic became a star...
Even if Martin and Scola became bench players...
And Odom got kicked out of the league at one point.

1. It ticks me off, along with my black friends who aren't American or of African descent that all black people are referred to as "African Americans". People are so edgy and bury their head in sand when it comes to sensitive topics like this.

They completely avoid the real issues at hand by focusing on "derogatory terms", cutting the throats of anyone who utters anything remotely "politically incorrect" rather than actually looking to take a stand for the human rights of underpriviledged people in general.

I've had a American born Chinese guy telling me I'm not PC for calling my friends "brown people" and talk down to me as if I've committed some kind of crime against humanity. I later asked my buddies if they were offended by being called "brown people" and they replied "Why? We ARE brown."

2. The NBA is doing this because they're an organization that is overly concerned with their image.

This Sterling crap has been happening since the early 2000s when he was actually doing stuff that should concern people. The tape recently released was simply a rich old man telling his mistress to not hang out with a bunch of young black males; I don't condone those comments, but rather want to point out its triviality in comparison to everything he's allegedly done prior to this.

While the NBA should have put the hammer down on him 10 years ago, it's better late than never.

3. The commissioner is general the owners collective sock puppet. For him to put the hammer down on Sterling now rather than before... You'd have to think Sterling isn't on the best terms with the rest of the NBA owners and/or he's been warned multiple times and this was the final straw.

You'd have to think it's a combination of both, and it's saddening to know. There's no way the commission, including Stern and Jackson, were unaware of this situation. For them to not act earlier meant they allowed such behaviour to take place, and at most told Sterling "Psst. Tone it down".

4. Whoever takes over the Clippers will make a ton of money. Magic can deny interest all he wants, but he has the money to do this and it will be very lucrative for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he's involved in the bidding process, even if he ends up not winning the auction.

Great point Wilch.
I would like to add that it is also about money.
This is a PR disaster...
Sponsors have already started to pull out...
And even the President put in his own 2 cents.
The NBA had to do something...
And I am actually surprised...
In a good way...
That it was this harsh.
Like you said...
It is 10 to 15 years too late...
But at least Sterling finally got his due...
And the NBA finally did the right thing.

Absolutely.

It's all about "image" for the NBA. It sounds cynical, but I don't doubt for a minute that's the case.

Rather than "Wow Sterling is a horrible human being, we should fine him and kick him loose", the NBA is thinking "Wow Sterling is an idiot and ****ed our PR big time, he needs to hit the can".

This situation in particular was bad because the loudmouth idiot media outlet in TMZ got their hands on actual evidence. And when they get their hands on something this controversial and scandalous, these mother****ers know how to make it spread like wildfire.

I guarantee you it happened like this:

1. Sterling's mistress threatened him to pony up.

Sterling either took it as an idle threat OR thought he had enough influence to cover it so he told her to FO

The mistress made her way to TMZ, sold it for a sizeable sum

2. TMZ told Sterling they'll be publishing the information unless he does or gives them "A, B and C"

Sterling ignored them because he thought the request is ludicrous and thought his relationship with the rest of the owners and the league would sufficiently cover his ass in case it was published

3. TMZ abused its media superpowers to its full extent and showed Sterling they never take no for answer

Conclusion: Donald Sterling misgauged and underestimated the gravity of this issue and is now paying a massive price as a result of not willing to settle and resolve before TMZ went *******.
