    End of the draft.

Here is an activity, for the team you are going to cheer for, in my case probably the Founders' Franchise (Vancouver is a possibility), make your team lineup.

Sofar you have 30-31 players to use, here is what you need:

    4 Forward Lines
    3 Defense Pairings
    2 Goaltenders

Do we include the player each team protected before the draft? Assuming it's the case :

    Les Nordiks de Quebec

    Gagné - Ribeiro - Richer
    Veilleux - Perreault - Reid
    Hamel - Gamache - Dusablon
    Darche - Stock - Bélanger

    Grand-Pierre - Messier
    Bouchard - Grenier
    St. Jacques - Nasredinne

    Denis
    Ouellet

6 more rounds have been added, we are up to 28. Can anyone give me the list of players (8) that were protected prior to the draft? I will add them in, in red.

I am likely going to be cheering for the Founders' Franchise, as they may be in Vancouver. Assuming all players want to play and are allowed to play, here is the lineup, in my opinion.

    Founders Franchise

Scottie Upshall - Zach Parise - Todd Bertuzzi
Scott Pellerin - Shaun Van Allen - David Morisset
Randy Powe - Doug Gilmour - Mike Glumac
Mike Picard - Kirk Muller - Sean Pronger

    Lyle Odelein - Tommy Albelin
    Jiri Slegr - Chris Therien
    Jamie Pushor - Jim Vandermeer

    Corey Schwab
    Fred Braithwaite

    Kevin Miller, C
    Jarrod Skalde, C
    DJ Smith, D
    Mike Wilfon, D
    Mathieu Chouinard, G
    Ray Schultz, D
    Steve Gainey, LW
    Kevin Dallman, D
    Steve McLaren, D
    Jeff Paul, D

The founders franchise will be in Cincinnati. Vancouver has no arena to host it, seing as the coliseum isn't available.

I still doubt this whole thing will ever happen but i'll root for Florida.
This is the team i'd ice with the players Florida drafted.

Sean Avery - Brad Richards - Martin St. Louis
Jason Williams - Jason Wiemer - Niko Dimitrakos
Trent Whitfield - Brett McLean - Craig Adams
Andre Roy - Ben Clymer - Brad Tapper

    Bob Boughner - Jamie Rivers
    Rick Berry - Karel Pilar
    Brandon Smith - Rob Davison

    Jean-Sebastien Aubin
    Steve Shields

    Zac Bierk G
    Darren Rumble D
    Matt Walker D
    Paul Elliot D
    Riku Hahl C
    Mikhail Kuleshov LW
    Gord Dwyer LW
    Bill Lindsay LW
    Tyler Bouck RW
    Steven Webb RW
    Bill Muckalt RW

Not a bad team, solid top 2 lines.
And hey St. Louis did actually say he'd consider playing in the WHA if there's a lockout.

  12. Poor teams though, if there is a season they will be lucky to get 25% of the players.

Though I understand some of the Halifax franchaise's standpoint, focusing mainly on drafting player likely to play and that have connection to the East Coast of Canada, I still think they missed out on something else:
Former Moosehead players like Brandon Reid and Ramzi Abid would definitely be a draw.

19bruins19, I agree, a whole ton of these players will not even consider playing, but that is why the 16-17 year old draft is held tomorrow.

Hehe, Karel Pilar is Florida's top defenseman.

I just noticed that neither Niedermayer brother was taken. I guess they're against the WHA or something.

    Hamilton Franchise Roster

here we go, the Hamilton Roster in the WHA

Mike Ryder - Cliff Ronning - Paul Kariya
Trent Hunter - Sergei Zholtok - Jan Hlavac
Anson Carter - Rob Zamuner - Theoren Fleury
Mike Keane - Tom Fitzgerald - Pascal Rheaume

extras: Travis Brigley, Rob Ray, Jim Dowd, Dave Lowry, Michal Grosek, Don McLean, Farrell, Jim Cummins

    Defensemen:

    Scott Ferguson - Andreas Lilja
    Brad Norton - Nolan Baumgartner
    Bryan Marchment - Bobby Allen

    extras: John Gruden, Mark Bergevin

    Goaltenders:

    Felix Potvin
    Dan Blackburn
    Byron Dafoe

    Analysis:

Forwards are old, but still have some speed, defense is lousy, especially when you consider Andreas Lilja is the #1 defenseman on the team. Goaltending could surprise a lot of people, especially of Blackburn signs and plays well.

Here are your 2004-2005 Toronto Toooroooos:

    Kovalchuk - Thronton - Cheechoo
    Milley - Hartnell - Scheaffer
    Thomas - Chimera - May
    Oliver - Holden - Battaglia

    Extras:
McCarthy, Nathan Smith, Gavey, Tripp, Leeb, Doull, Corson

    Defensemen:

    Witt - Phillips
    Delmore - Patrick
    Simpson - Exelby

    Extras:

    Luke Sellars, Burke Henry, Wallin

    Goaltenders:

    Mathieu Garon
    Trevor Kidd
    Jamie Hodson

OH MY GOD: Kidd is still alive, and will be playing poorly in Toronto again next season. With Garon traded (cant remember where), Kidd and Hodson could be #1 and #2 this year.....look out, high scoring games

Extras: Crozier, Metropolit, Hamilton, Druken, Martins, C. Taylor, E. Healey, P. Healey, D. Ling

    Defense:

    Finley - Myrvold
    Fitzpatrick - Henry

BUT if the WHA is going to play this is the type of team that will be playing. No Thornton's or Kovalchuks.
