A 6'5 big right handed closer out of New York, Tainter rides and dies with his cut fastball. With plus plus lateral movement, he can easily miss the barrels of right handed batters to induce weak contact, or throw it like a power slider off the plate to lefties as an out pitch. He keeps batters off balance with a circle change and will sometimes mix in a 12-6 curve, but Tainter throws his cutter like Mo. When you think about it, you can see an awful lot of similarities between their pitching motions....

TJ was selected in the 3rd round by- you guessed it- the LA Angels. As a AA for the Halos, Jainter dominated. He struck out the first 6 batters be faced en route to his first 2 saves as a pro. Cruising through his first AA chapter, Tainter struck 15 batters out while allowing 3 hits over 6.2 innings, walking nobody. Only a hard luck loss wobbled the boat: he struck out 3 batters over 2.1 innings, with 1.1 of them dealing with the zombie runner in extra innings. Unfortunately, some scrub allowed the zombie runner to score after Tainter struck out the inning's 1st batter.

How will the youngster handle this adversity? It was shaky at first- in his next outing he surrendered his first walk of the season and a hit, but bore down to induce a weak fly out and 2 Ks to save the game.

At this point, Tainter and his cutter have surrendered only 3 runs (2 earned) over 21.1 innings. He's struck out 39 batters and only walked 1 en route to 16 saves. Some people are noticing.

After a few more weeks at AA, the Bees came calling

And why wouldn't they? In 28 AA appearances, Tainter rode his cutter to a 0.88 ERA, 21 SV, 1 blown save, 0.49 whip, and 60 K: 2 BB over 30.2 innings.

AAA is next for one of the most promising bullpen arms in the minors

On his promotion to AAA, Tainter was able to be reached by the media. He believes the most appalling locker room talk he's heard is when a teammate was claiming Chuck Fletcher hasn't lost a trade.

Tainter is adenoidless, as most of the best are.

Hot dogs are not sandwiches colloquially, but he understands that when you break down the logistics of what a sandwich is, it is understandable for it to be considered one.

Ain’t nothing strange about enjoying some good ol’ Country Breakfast.

At season's end, the Bees just came short of the playoffs. However, TJ was every bit as sensentional as we expect with a 37:1 K:BB over 23.2 AAA innings. He saved 21 games in 21 opportunities in the highest minors circuit allowing only 6 hits and no runs. With a 0.30 whip, we can only imagine what his second professional season has in store.

Jainter has been dealt to the Phils organization. This is the same path as a last time

The Phils are salivating at the idea of this arm solidifying their bullpen for years to come. For now, he's placed in AA. That, of course, is sure to change

And after 2 appearances for AA Reading, here we are in Lehigh Valley. Turns out, not only did LAA have Iglesias, but they also signed Micheal Lorenzen who somehow is good in this game in 2023. They decided to deal away from a position of strength, something Chuck Fletcher would never understand
