Well, that and they had lost to unranked NC State that year as well as losing a 3rd straight to South Carolina. Yet they won the ACC for the first time in 20 some years and you could tell they were going to be a contender soon.

You're not wrong here. That said Clemson is beatable. Texas A&M, Syracuse, UNC (in that ACC title game) NC State, Pitt, even Auburn have given them close games at the very least in their 4 year run here, but Pitt and Cuse are the only two to have beaten them besides Alabama. Someone has to beat them otherwise they're just gonna march right back to this spot.

Alabama on the other hand is a monster and will always be a playoff team until proven otherwise.
