If you look at the box score you'll see that they used 3 goalies - 1 period each. I know nothing about their roster so I can't say if they sat any "stars". Good for UofA with the win, but I would need more info on the UMD roster.

I think a reason why this team is so successful is they don't really have one star just a lot of strong players. UofA were runner-ups and nearly went back-to-back, playing against the NCAA's best team, whereas UMD have legit nothing to prove and as you noted played 3 goalies. I wouldn't read much into it, based on playing 3 goalies we can assume he also gave ice time to a lot of the skaters who won't play much this year. Sandelin will have this team going when it matters..
