The conditions are that if he plays 7 games till the end of the season, we get a 4th. If not, we get a 5th.

Fine trade for what it is. I had more confidence in Niemi than him.

Surprised we got a 4th considering he just came back from an injury

Also seems like the oilers management haven't given up yet on the season

Predictable as he was so close to returning. Habs save some bucks by keeping Niemi over Montoya and they get rid of his extra year of contract.

If Montoya is a back-up during 7 games with the Oil, is that considered "playing". :sarcasm:

Montoya is one concussion away from retirement

He was overpaid

We have Lindgren too

Good guy. Thank you Montoya and sorry for the 10 goals game vs Columbus last year !

Does Montoya have another year left on his contract after this season. I think he does but not really sure now.

Yes he does. The Habs granted him a 2-year deal just before the expansion draft as they needed to make available to Vegas, one goalie on their roster who had more than a one-year contract.

The Sale Season has begun! MB strikes again!

Honestly though.. Bergevin got Niemi for nothing.. so rather than losing him for nothing, he trades Montoya away for a pick. Price will probably get 90-95% starts until the end (35 starts)

Thanks. I thought he did. I saw your post about the extra year just after I hit reply.

What? OMG! Lol

Well, Edmonton was looking for a backup. I guess we're keeping Niemi for the rest of this year and going with Lindgren next year.

Lindgren is still developing. While Price is here, I'd rather Lindgren play 60 games in Laval. Better that than 20 games in the NHL and sitting on the bench most nights.
