Buffalo and Montreal winning has us back in 23rd, 3 points ahead of Chicago, 1 ahead of Buffalo
An Arizona win would have us 4 points out of WC2 and 5 points out of WC1 with two teams to leapfrog

That's not my favorite way to look at the standings. My favorite way is W-L, which negates the situation where tags have played different numbers of games.

By that measure...
WC1...Nash +7
WC2...
Calg +6
Winn. +6
Minn. +5
Ariz. +5

Chicago has put them self in a great position to finish 25th smh. If they draft one of Rossi/Stutzle I’d change sports

The tank is rusty and leaks like a strainer. The Wild are only a couple of points outside, and won't quit now.

That's not evidence.
Earnst and Young overseas the draft lottery to ensure its rules are followed.

E&Y dwarf the NHL(40 Billion and revenues vs 4 Billion) and the damage to their rep for allowing the NHL to fake the lottery would be borderline fatal to an auditing company like that ( see Arthur Anderson after Enron).

You pay companies like E&Y, KPMG and pricewater cooper for their audit solely for their reputation, and they don't give a shit about your reputation(the NHLs).

As someone that worked for a fortune 500 company, and dealt with KPMG auditors routinely, the draft lottery is the only thing in the NHL I'm positive isn't corrupt due to that relationship.

Rigging the draft lottery is the one thing that Bettman could do that would get him fired.

So you know it actually doesn't happen.

Wasn't KPMG involved with the Enron accounting scandal, though? There was a lot more money at stake there, and they turned a blind eye to corrupt practices.

No, it was Arthur Anderson involved with Enron. Arthur Anderson no longer exists due to it.

It used to be the "Big 5" professional services firms, now it's the "Big 4"

Ah, ok. The point still stands, though. Back then Arthur Anderson was entrusted with auditing Enron, as KPMG is entrusted with the NHL draft. Big companies are just as fallible as the humans who run, and work for them.
