Why is Askarov not a realistic target? Because he will surely be gone or because we don't need him?

If u r sure he will already be gone then u have him ranked too low.
I am not sure if we would pick Mysak or Holloway over Askarov.

I think Askarov will be taken.

the more I read into the draft, the more I'm liking Seth Jarvis at #20
not sure he'll be there but he seems like a good fit for the Oilers...right-handed centers don't grow on trees
Not sure how much C he would be playing in NHL especially in EDM. Seems to be a slightly bigger Yamamoto.

I think it's more that the scouts have less to go off of with no playoffs, U18s, etc. Rankings are all over the place and there's no real consensus.

I don't know. There's a lack of a consensus then there's stuff like Byfield at 6th and Rossi at 18th.

If I had a scout tell me either of those, I'd be assigning them to some league in Australia and hoping I never hear from them again haha.

That we can agree on.

Jarvis has been primarily a RW this year and projects to be one in the NHL.

He's a pretty different player than Yamamoto. A few inches taller, better shooter, worse playmaker, much better skater, and less tenacious. He definitely wouldn't be redundant if we were to draft him.

Yamamoto had a pretty lethal shot in juniors. Not sure what happened.

Not sure if Jarvis has better shot than Yama. Both are about the same. Both find a way to finish around the blue paint but not so dangerous further out. Nuge found a way so there is certainly hope.

If we lose to the Hawks, all bets are off. We might get a very good player.

If we win, I expect us to go at least a couple rounds deep so unless Askarov slips and we have the balls to go Russian G, then I am 100% on the Jan Mysak train. I like the way his trajectory is going I think there is something happening here.

that's fine
Centres can always play wing
Tippett is also a guy that would utilize a right hand shot to take draws in certain situations.

It also wouldn't be the first time a Center started off as a winger and learned the NHL game before switching back to Center. Shawn Horcoff is an example of this.
