If we miss the playoffs again can we at least just suck balls completely instead of half assing it like everything this roster does?

I would love to waltz out of Montreal with one of Laf/Byfield/Raymond/Holtz.

Although I’d be perfectly fine with settling for Stutzle, he’s a beast.
Perfetti or Rossi as well.

If the Oilers draft in the late teens or thereabout, John-Jason Peterka is starting to look pretty good to me. Been impressive in Germany's two games so far. 3 goals.

HockeyProspect has him ranked #18 at the moment. Guessing more scouting services will put him in the 1st round after this WJC tournament.

I think Lafreniere is the clear #1 after the WJC he had, but #2 might still be up in the air.

Marco Rossi, in my opinion, is really getting overlooked. He is outproducing Byfield in the OHL right now, 2.38 ppg to 1.9 ppg.

I think he, Stutzle, and Raymond all have the chance to steal the #2 spot from Byfield. Holtz, Perfetti, Drysdale, Lundell, and Askarov all look like top-5 picks as well.

I don't think there's any way Byfield falls past #2.

People might knock him for the WJC, but players his age don't make that team unless they're surefire #1s. Just making the team should be a positive.

He's just too good now and too projectable later to pass on.

I typically don’t put too much stock into a 7 game tourny, byfield size, skating and production in the ohl is too much to pass up.

like you said it’s rare draft eligibles are ever taken on Canada. Seguin was cut from the team the year he went second.

My top-15 right now:

1. Alexis Lafreniere
2. Quinton Byfield
3. Marco Rossi
4. Tim Stutzle
5. Lucas Raymond
6. Jamie Drysdale
7. Alexander Holtz
8. Cole Perfetti
9. Anton Lundell
10. Noel Gunler
11. Yaroslav Askarov
12. Rodion Amirov
13. Dylan Holloway
14. Connor Zary
15. Jan Mysak

Pretty crazy depth. I'd argue that any of the top-9 prospects here would go top-5 normally.

I love that they changed the lotto rules to reduce tanking.

If the Oilers do miss the playoffs. They will have a solid chance to move up in the draft. #1 is obviously unlikely but winning the #3 lotto isn't unlikely for any team not making the show.

Of course hard preference to just make the playoffs and even better end up drafting 31st.

Quinn might've done himself a favor this morning. Had a hell of a game against the Wolves and scored a nice goal where he didn't look all that slow. Apparently over 100 scouts and executives in the building considering it's Byfield vs Rossi.

That 67s team is pretty stacked. If have to think Keating is probably one of the first OAs off the board this year. Sean Josling of Sarnia probably goes first though.
Josling and Keating are not draft eligible - already been passed over three times. They both stand good chances of signing pro contracts somewhere.

He and Lucas Reichel, who both played on a line with Stutzle at the WJC, would be good options if we pick in the late 1st. I would love getting another German.

I'd love to see the Oilers take a shot at Reichel. Saw him play at the local club as a 14/15 year old kid, dominating U16 competition. Would be pretty cool if he'd have a chance to step on the ice in Edmonton one day.

There's also a German born defenseman ranked 179 among NA skaters, he's 5'5" and 124lbs. It is incredible he's even on the radar.
You made me curious but I figured Timothy Lovell at eliteprospects.com doesn't have dual citizenship.
A german D who might be the biggest talent after Seider is Maximilian Glötzl at eliteprospects.com , although I've no idea where he's ranked.

I really want Holtz. I wonder if there’s any way to trade up for him? If we pick in the 17-20 range, and the Habs pick in the 7-10 range, maybe 1st + 2nd + Pulju?

I would not mind picking Holloway. I don't think he will be there in the 17-20 range

Or maybe Rangers who have been interested on Puljujarvi previously. Or Minnesota.
