I have a lot of questions, but here is the first one:

I am OK with the carbs vs protein, but how much do you have to worry about getting fats?
Not too much. At least in our case . If her energy gets low she eats stuff high in fats. For example I've been making this peanut butter and coconut oil snack thing that we always have a batch in the freezer. I'm not on the diet but she is and it's a go to for her. The term fatbomb is used alot in keto diets. It pertains to things you eat to get your fat up, among other things. It's super easy to make. The recipe that I use is 1/2 cup coconut oil microwaved just until melted mixed with a half of cup of allnatural peanut butter microwave untill just melted, sweetened to taste with your favorite sugar substitute mix that all up in a bowl dumping into a sheet pan so it can spread out nice and thin and throw into the freazer until it hardens. She likes it a little lesslthen a 1/4 in thick. She usually doesn't have a problem with needing to up her fats though because the keto diet that I feed her is moderately high fat

If you don't mind Cap'n, here's my 2 cents:

The thing with fats is they are very important and should be consumed daily. IIRC, around 30% of your diet. They are critical for brain function among other things.

Healthy fats include olive oil, coconut and avacado. I don't measure at all and just use sensible quantities. You should avoid trans fats and other unhealthy fats though.

The other important fact to remember is fat doesn't equate fat. It's sugar and simple carbs that get people in trouble.

Stay away from the Tkachuk diet though :sarcasm:

I understand, bud, but I am talking specifically about keto.

Let's address a few different posts at once:

I have eaten so many Combos over the years that it has become part of my DNA. I've loved them since they first apepared in a vending machine at the local bowling alley when I was a kid. Curse them for getting rid of the Nacho Cheese Pretzel variety.

Also I got drunk for the first time when I was eleven with my cousin on Black Velvet and had a blast. Then the next time I tried it with my brother's friend I probably have ten or so shots while sampling different bottles in the house and projectile vomited all night, learning the dark side of alcohol. I was always a lightweight because I was tiny but I tried to keep up with my brother and his friends who were 2-3 years older than me because his friends got all the chicks. This is what happens when your mom starts dating again and leaves teenage boys alone at home on a Saturday night.

I just finished my third batch of ramen broth. Going to try a spicy miso ramen this time. I stray from recipes pretty quickly, but this one is almost entirely my own. Basic instant pot broth with vegetable trimmings, rotisserie carcas, thigh bones, nori, bonito, garlic/ginger, mirin and soy.

How's St.Louis these days Cap? Is it still livable or with Keith residing there have all the consumables besides veggies vanished?

My Truck company is headquartered in STL. In the Bridgeton / Hazelwood section. That area is booming. Huge warehouse's going up. Also 370 is nice cuts through 70 and 270 to avoid alot of traffic.

The highways are definitely the highlight, because they lead you elsewhere, especially the Mark McGwire Expressway, which is like a highway on steroids. :naughty:

I'm outside town out in the countryside, so I haven't been in the city much, but it is a ****hole still, and boring as ****, and useless as ****.

So it's not on anyone's bucket list then eh? I remember what Abe Simpson thought about the whole state. Lol

There’s a sushi place near me that’s been our go to for a few years. I recently tried their spicy ramen with pork, bean sprouts, egg, exc... I’m absolutely addicted. I like it better than Sushi at times. They are opening a Ramen only place shortly. Very good idea, I will be the #1 customer. Mmmm.

Also their bulgolgi is outstanding.

Age never stopped me to drink, my first beer came at age 14. I actually went into a beer store at 18 with a fake id and got a 30 pack of milwuakee's best for 8 bucks.

Well that has me beat. I had my first beer at 16. We had some of those Miller ponies in the fridge. They were these mini bottles of 7 oz beer.

Actually, the Chinese buffet they had out here, that my parents loved, was closed when I got back, but then it re-opened again and it's really good, so that part is sorted.
Funny you mention that.

A sushi place some old friends and I used to hit closed completely unexpectedly about two years ago. Had government forms on the door saying they didn’t pay their rent. We honestly thought they just up and left, never to be seen again. With the amount of salmon sashimi we consumed, it honestly didn’t surprise me.

And then it randomly re opened a couple months ago.

It’s the little things.

Well, I always have had an older appearance. When I was 16, a lot told me I looked in my 20s. I got used to by cigs, beer and many times they wouldn't ask for ID. A few did and having a fake id at that time was great.

I use to play lot of softball games with friends right by the Flyers skate zone in the northeast on comly. I use to hang out at the bar on the blvd and comly right at Steve's prince of steaks. It was also great smelling the Nabisco factory.

If you grew up in the day you could smell that unbelievable smell.

Always was given a glass of Baby Duck sparkling wine at X-Mas and Thanksgiving. Also allowed a swig of the occasional beer.

First real drinking was at aged 15 in a Quebec bar while at a hockey tournament. Drank 7 beer! Oh...and Canadian beer....not that weak stuff! And then I puked later on.

Side note: A few others went to a strip club instead and ran into a group of their own father's who decided to have an evening out too!
