The market for Gardiner is being evaluated

A few years back when the Leafs were running Schenn, Komi, Aulie and Beauch out every night, I wanted to kill myself. Stay at home guys are not useful now that clutch and grab is gone. I remember that year watching Chicago's fleet footed defense corps annihilate all comers and boy was I jealous.

Fast skating, intelligent defenseman like Jake Gardiner and Morgan Rielly can play defense like the bruisers above. It takes positioning and compete, and we've seen Jake do just that for extended periods of time, with streaks of inconsistency measured in. All this pining for Fraser to return has me scratching my head.

I'd trade Gardiner, Bernier and a 1st for any of edmontons 6 million men. Probably an overpayment but damn, our forwards would be so feared.
