GBU The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - Winning! 1.18.21

The Good:

- Lazar with a pair. His line buzzed, particular Skinner generating chances.
- The top line was strong, almost overwhelmingly so, all night. That shift to end the 2nd period? Daaaamn.
- Risto's hitting.
- Hutton didn't let in anything soft.
- VO popping a nice one late.
- Depth guys doing depth things, backchecking and moving pucks into transition quickly.
- Those jerseys? So sweet.
- Cozens gives the Staal line what we know Cozens to be - using his speed in pursuit up and down the ice. It gives the Staal line a dynamic element that Reinhart doesn't have (no knock on Sam, just not the same wheels), while Sam gets to be the glue guy for Eichel's line, where he accels.

The Bad:

- Sad that they gave up the shutout late
- Elliot on Joker's goal. Like... wtf?

The Ugly:

- Dahlin getting punched in the mush.

They played great all around, I'm not gonna dwell on the warts and problem areas I saw tonight because there is no such thing as a perfect game.

Bring this every night and we will win a lot more games than expected.

Yeah great game, one of our more dominant wins of the past few years.

Philly was also just really bad. Their puck management in their own zone was comical. Expect them to be a lot better tomorrow.

Two straight games where they've looked at the very least competitive. Difference is they found the back of the net tonight. But if they can keep playing the way they have the last 6 periods I'll be happy. There's very little margin for error in this division though, so they can't take games off.

• Hall-Eichel-Reino. Looked like they were playing against beer leaguers out there at times. Damn.
  
• Skinner-Lazar-Sheahan. Kreuger's stupid-looking line actually paid off?
• The PP looked like a real PP! No need to slap any PPs anymore.
  
• Dahlin looked like Dahlin again. Phew.
• Risto smash.
• Cozens and Olofsson had some moments.
  
• Great all-around team effort through all 3 periods.
  
• Hutton didn't blow it.

When Jack passed to Skinner on his breakaway I thought we were in for another typical Sabres game from the past few years. Glad it didn't turn out that way, they ended up controlling the entire game. One of their best played games in years and was enjoyable to watch.
