Good:

Mitts with a pair of helpers. That second one to Sheary was pretty freaking slick.
Assistofson.
Joker's outlets.
Forward support? Seemed to be without fail.
Breakaways? Frequently. When was the last time a Sabre team out odd-man rushed another team so noticeably?
Speaking of chances, HDSC and generally playing well 5-on-5. Funny what happens when the whole unit defends and then is available to move up the ice in support.
Gus-Larry-Kyle doing work. Loved them.
Johansson was a gem tonight.
Dahlin's highlight topshelf goal.
Vlad found his dink. He was a j-hole all night and they need that in the lineup.

Bad:

The Pen-standard officiating was as always ridiculously one-sided.

Ugly:

Malkin got one AHL-side on Hutton but then had his pocket picked by Vlad and lost a one-on-one with Scandella later. Geno looks like he should be a bit more self-critical.
Did I mention the officiating?

Hell of a game, especially on the road. Every part of their game looked improved compared to last year. Hopefully this is the Krueger effect and Housely truly was that terrible. If it is, this season might actually be good!

Huge advantage in shots / scoring chances and still only 2 PP’s, kinda weird.

Good: Goaltending was stellar tonight.
Bad: The Penguins. They looked terrible.
Ugly: Officiating. Here we go again.

Still didnt like 17 or 6 but they had better moments than usual. Don't like skinner with sobotka.

Okposo missed stuff but at least he got chances.

Please give me more girgs like that.

3rd line nice

Refs bad

No 5v5 goals against!

1 game, I know, but was Housley really that bad of a coach? I know we made some moves this offseason, but that didn’t look remotely like the crap we had to watch last year (even when they were winning).

well the sabres season opener the typical sabres showed up

they just wore pens jerseys

Krueger points out the consistency of the play beginning to end

G: yes
B:nope
U: Rod Brind'amour's face

honestly too much to list in the G today, but ill tag the consistent pressure from puck drop to the horn, even in the third when they played more defensively it was still hard pressure on the puck every time a pen had it

That's just a really good road game, all around.

The refs were awful.

Only sad that Eichel didn't get a point. I thought he was making good plays tonight mostly but no Grade A chances which is unusual for him.

Sobotka was effective, gotta give him his due.

The way they closed out that 3rd was perfection (minus the penalties).

Sobotka was more than fine with Skinner tonight, that line won’t be changing anytime soon.

G:
- Winning!
- Every line pulled their weight---none of that 1 good offensive line, 1 good defensive line, and 2 that look like they would match poorly against an ECHL team crap
- The consistent (and effective) forecheck and backcheck
- Breakaways galore. Apparently this team can make stretch passes...just not the ones Bylsma was trying.
- Reinhart to Dahlin was just plain pretty
- Mitts looked like a completely different player from last year

B:
- Scandella looked like exactly the same player as last year
- Yikes refs
- Hutton made some big stops, but the one he let in should've been an easy save

U:
- Not today satan

G:
-Risto at 24 mins (would have been more without that penalty), no complaints on his game tonight. But we cant grind him down once again
-Everyone played hard and with intent for 60 minutes, that's a victory in itself for this group

B:
-PP1 needs a bit more urgency, please switch Olofsson and Skinner

U:
-Nice try refs

The doghouse
I'll say that Miller looked shaky early on, but settled down.

Olofsson was a little off on the first line, but was close to gelling. I think that chemistry will come sooner than later

That is all my nitpicking
