I have a bad feeling, though, that Hynes will still be Coach by the time the next game rolls around.

Because, let's face it, it's not as if Shero has anyone lined up ready to take his place or anything.

I do hope that Shero calls him into his office for a meeting to find out what is going on, though.....

You have no idea what Shero is or isn’t doing. Let’s not opine either way.

I certainly hope Shero has been making some calls.

Shero should seriously be canned as well if he does not get rid of Hynes before mid November.

another lol at declaring the season over already. i absolutely hate the coach and the team right now but oh no, they're 3 wins off pace of the other teams with 75 games to go! pull the plug! but but but .600 win percentage!

You are really underestimating how difficult it is to climb back from being 4 under .500. I mean it may not seem like much but I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if they don’t sniff .500 again the rest of the season. This hole they dug is already very deep and it’s only been 6 games.

Remember that game, years ago, where we played the Rangers and Chico was talking about how embarrassing it was for us? That the crowd was mostly Rangers fans as we were being eliminated from the playoffs?

I have the same dread for the next game against the Rangers.

You have no idea how other teams will perform over the next 75 games.

All you can do is try to correct course as quickly as possible and win as much as you can.

This can’t happen with Hynes though. He thinks they are almost there when they clearly aren’t.
They completely stink. It's not like the underlying stats show a team underperforming, they are doing close to how they have performed. Their special teams are an embarrassment. That Hynes thinks we're a few adjustments away from being a winning team is delusional.

it's hard but it's also VERY early in the season. again, there's concern and there's declaring the season over already. you're not going to convince me that it's not a ridiculous take that with 75 games to play the devils are insurmountably out of catching a team that has a whopping 4 points more than us.

like we have one game against teams in our division so far which is how we gain the most ground. obviously they need to figure it out. but if they do then it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Yeah the end of the Lou era on Fan Depreciation Day...people say how far we've come since then but another embrassment would make a mockery out of that statement.

That's why I used the same word you used : "hope".

I don't understand why you would believe I knew what Shero was thinking or doing as I never implied that.

If my post sounded that way, that was not my intention.

But something MUST be done now.

IT MUST.

Tonight is plenty of time to fire Hynes and have a replacement ready to go for a team meeting tomorrow and practice starting Wednesday. If that doesn't happen, I'd almost say all Devils fans should boycott the game on Thursday and let the place be entirely Ranger fans.

If there is someone out there that thinks that Hynes has it in him to effectively coach this team, then put money on it, and you'll make some very nice coin. No one will do that, because anyone with a pulse knows he can't coach, whether they watch the sport or not.

Just get it done. There's no reason he should be here another hour.

I'm sick of allowing 3 goals or more every single game! Bring in Guy Boucher! That'll force them to play a defensive system. What they are playing now is crap.

And then they'll be 4 wins off pace....then 5 wins.....then 6 wins...

Just when do you draw the line, Al?

If the Devils make a Coaching change and get someone who knows how to Coach (PERIOD!), then yeah. It's not too late to turn this Titanic-of-a-team around this season.

But If Hynes remains, we're pretty much sunk going forward. :dunno:

The ball is in Ray's court here.

Well if he means producing the worst hockey being played in the league, by saying “doing a good job”, then the staff is doing even better than good. They already have the Adams trophy locked up by that measure.

If Hynes has to stay longer, at least this team needs to re-assign or part ways with Kowalski, @Bleedred-style.

(Although I'm advocating we move away from Hynes as soon as there is a tangible coach out there that has better pedigree.

I didn't think Kowalski was THAT awful last year, but this years special teams is atrociously atrocious, and if anything it needs a change in coaching. Straight up. You can't have this much skill up front, and offensive skill on the backline and have 0 PP goals whatever amount of games we're already into the season. Our PP looks straight up dumbfounded out there. Perimiter passing and then the final shot into some skates, statues in position waiting for the perfect play to open up. Real un-NHL like.

Hynes defending himself after this garbage start to the season that includes a 4-0 blown lead s/o loss, a 7-2 blowout, a 4-0 shutout, another blown lead in the final seconds of a game that turned into another s/o loss, another shutout 3-0. a third blown lead (4-1) along with having a 0/18 PP 8/16 PK and coughing up goals in the first few minutes or last minutes of a period.

the season isn't over.. this is trrue...it is bluster from angry fans myself included.. but I do think looking at how this team is performing its hard to imagine them putting a decent streak together to overcome this early hole..

I don't think effort is the problem... which is a terrible sign... They're actually trying really hard imo... but at the same time it's almost like they don't know what to do...

To quote Lemaire after he took over from MacLean... "the team lost the ability to play"...
29 goals allowed through 6 games played to start the season,... no excuses for that...

The big question I have is... who do you actually replace Hynes with?
