Rielly has obviously surpassed him. So why wouldn't they vote him over Gardiner.

Gardiner is a good player.
This is coming from someone who used to be a huge hater but analytics really opened my eyes to what he brings to the game.
Take him off our roster and dont replace him with a similar puck transitioner and our skilled forwards wouldnt have the puck nearly as much as they currently do.
Sure he has his brainfarts and sometimes they're massive but I think the good definitely outweights the bad with him.

I dont like Simple Jake and would love if the fans gave him the Larry Murphy treatment, but that's not likely to happen so all I can do is hope and pray he isn't re-signed and that he doesn't single-handendly eliminate us with another game 7 performance when the playoffs roll around

I do not vote on threads on here and most of the people who respond to polls on sites are generally not very educated on what a hockey player looks like. At least on polls on here you get more serious fans but still a smaller percentage.

Could very well be factoring in Dermott's potential upside there. Perhaps it's also partially that Gardiner is going into the final season of his contract.
