Maybe he got him mixed up with Campbell?

Or maybe he just has no clue. Honestly, I think he was just throwing some phrases around - he actually does that a lot. Just look at last weeks interview and his comments about Sautner. Doesnt surprise me that he cant acquire a good dman if he cant even properly evaluate their playing style.

Fool me once, shame on 'you'. Fool me twice, shame on 'me'. Having been schooled in the original trade by Talon that brought in Gudranson from Florida in the first place, Jimbo doubled down by re-signing him to an extension.

But that was just for optics. Couldn't let a guy walk for nothing after he gave up lots for him in a trade less than two years previous.

Fool me once/twice can really apply to the Benning hiring and subsequent extension. But again that was for optics so...

It's like Trump. The words don't actually matter. He spews a bunch of BS and the seals in the media clap their hands and then nobody remembers or cares that he said it 2 weeks later.

So, uh, Gudbranson was a plus player last night.

Maybe we should keep him stapled to Tanev? Handedness being the only issue I see, I mean aside from his contract and salary.

I'm still convinced Pouliot is the worse player, in spite of politics.

He got a + off an o-zone faceoff we scored directly off of where he never touched the puck.

He was still horrible last night. Did his best to blow the game with 5 turnovers on his last 2 shifts alone.

Edler, Hutton, Pouliot and now even Tanev have seen their games come unraveled after only a few games of being paired with Gudbranson. It's like being paired with a fire hydrant, that leaks scoring chances with nowhere to connect the hose.

Last night in the final few minutes I counted three times Guddy tried and failed to just lift the puck out his own zone. He's not even a decent "off the glass and out" d-man anymore. Please, a trade or a benching. Jimbo and Green can't ignore the obvious for much longer.

The Benning trade was actually during the "computer boy" Florida era I believe.

Tallon trade Guddy? lol. He wants him back!

Yeah, I'm not saying he earned the plus. I'm saying Tanev, his influence, or some kind of voodoo, kept that puck out when they were on the ice together. If it works keep the pairing around for a while, the head line isn't "Gudbranson gets a plus from offense" it's that of the three goals scored, none were with him and Tanev on the ice.

Seemed like there were more Gudbranson fanboys before the season, basically none now, guess it's been pretty difficult to still defend him these days.
There's still a few left but yea, hard to defend a guy who's been this bad for the 3rd straight year now. Hopefully there's a GM dumb enough to take him off our hands. Unlikely, but if Jack Johnson could get a 5 year contract in the offseason, anything is possible.

Wow, really want to spend as much money on Canucks tickets as possible just so they can pay for all of this expensive garbage.

I wonder if Toronto will do one for one with Zaitzev and Gudbranson
Zaitizev is the slightly better player, but his term is much longer, also has a 500k higher cap hit

This is why it's ****ing hilarious when people get sticker shock from the thought of pitching $9-10MM for 27 year old Mark Stone. We could pay Stone $10MM for PPG production, 20+ minutes of two way play, replace all 5 guys with replacement level $1-1.5MM players and be have better results AND save $5MM.

"We can't overpay for this elite talent it'll have repercussions for future signings!!" As if chronically overpaying every player, especially the awful ones, hasn't already created a skewed framework and bad situation for us being able to fit in as many high end players as possible.
