IF Beaulieu is the biggest piece going to TB in a potential trade for Drouin...I think you have to make that move.

Same for Shattenkirk. so I really dont believe the rumors.

Shattekirk is ufa this year (or is it next year?) and there's no guarantee he'd re-sign in Tampa.

Agreed on the Fabbri deal, though

Wow...holy overrated in this thread! Crazy deals people are offering for Drouin....so you all want to set us back years by trading our future...insane people just down right insane. Kid hasn't proven anything at the NHL level...open your eyes.

Just to burst everybody's bubble, Tampa is stacked on LD and it's been said multiple times they're looking for a RHD, which Beaulieu is not

I thought our management was clueless and desperate, but seeing what a lot of you want to trade for a unproven kid just because he is a "local" is downright embarrassing.

Are the Blues really willing to give Shattenkirk for Drouin though? I'm not so sure, a trade would've likely been done at this point if they were. Maybe they're trying to offer Fabbri+.

Maybe not.

TB is likely going to have cap problem moving forward.

They need to sign before july 1st 2016 :
Stamkos, Kucherov, T.J. Brown (12 points physical), Killhorn (19 points), Nesterov (4 points +5), Namestnikov (23 points).

They need to sign before 1st july 2017 : Hedman, Sustr, Johnson, Palat, Boyle.

Lot of those players will be looking at a raise. Some significant. TB currently doesn't have much room left under the cap.

The only bad contracts that will end in this period of time are Coburn and Ohlund. Will be very hard to move either Callahan or Carle to free some cap space.

Shattenkirk is paid 4 millions and his contract will be over next year. He will probably be looking at more than Petry since he's gonna be UFA. We are talking about 6 millions minimum. If TB wants to extend Stamkos it's gonna be very hard to extend Shattenkirk beyond next season since Hedman, Johnson and Palat contract will end a the same time (unless he **** in which case it's gonna be a bad trade anyway).

Beaulieu+ really is a good fit for TB. He is paid 1 millions this year and next year and will be RFA after that. At this point there will be 1 year left to Carle awful contract and TB will be able to bought him out to re-sign Beaulieu if needed. Beaulieu is almost sure to be an improvement over Carle, Ohlund, Coburn over the next 3 years. He is skilled but not enough to break the bank in the next 2 years.

If Yzerman thinks he can have much more than beaulieu and fitting under his upcoming cap he is dreaming big time imo (might be wrong who knows). He might get players he likes more but they wont be significantly better than Beaulieu imo. Johanssen a young player currently far better than Drouin netted Jones and only Jones. Drouin return should be far less specially since he is not burning the AHL.

Another small, unproven player is not what the Habs need right now. This would be one heck of a stupid transaction.

People overrate Sherbak. He has close to NO VALUE! The kid has been injured all season. If anybody is going back Tampa's way, it sure is BigMac ++

Scherbak is far from the NHL, so he wouldn't be the key piece. If they can pull this off with Beaulieu and a prospect not named McCarron, they'll have done OK. Beaulieu can be replaced with a follow-up trade.

Next year but it seems like the Blues know they won't be able to afford him, he's an offensive dynamo but underwhelming defensively, the emergence of Parayko makes him expendable as the rookie already looks like a great #2 RHD behind Pietrangelo.

My guess is they'll hold on to him for another run if the Drouin trade doesn't work out and will likely move him in the offseason instead of at the deadline because it already looks like Armstrong wants to get maximum return for him.

Drouin is an interesting asset. But not THAT interesting. Sherback + Juulsen. This doesn't help TB in the slightest this season, but neither does Drouin in Syracuse.

That's about all the Habs' could realistically give up without creating a hole somewhere else. If they need to add a pick... maybe a 1st next year that is lottery protected, but even that's a lot.

Drouin doesn't help the Habs either unless MB decides to throw the season away. It would be pure PR move.
