I think I know what you are saying...I'm at and wait and see stage with him.
Is it just me or does he seem to play uninspired hockey for good long stretches?

The best move might be to just retain Maroon.

Completely agree on every point.Yep, you hit the nail on the head.
It doesn't appear he's giving it 100% every shift, maybe part of that is due to the lack of foot speed but I think he could show better effort.
I like other parts of his game though.
Isles fan coming in peace. Just wanted to say congrats on just about locking up a well earned playoff spot. The devils to me look like a team that can surprise the big boys when the dance starts. Fast, gritty and support the puck well with a goalie or two that can stand on his head. As far as the Isles, think they have some interesting pieces with (2) 80 point centers and with some "competent GM moves" this off season will be back in the hunt. Anyway, enjoy the ride, would be nice to see you all beat Beantown or Tampa or whomever you get.....( how about a trade for Coleman and Wood for like a 4th round pick in 2021?) could use the charity...
Actually, I think Hischier did that more than Hall. Pushing Zajac into a checking line role instead of 1st line duties was huge.Hall does to our offense what a #1LD would do for our defense. Everyone got shuffled down a line and more properly lined up in roles. All of a sudden a guy forced to play top line minutes, gets to play against second or third pairing defenders.
Sorry, but my opinion is that it's a good description of what he did. Forget about stats, but in the dog days of the season there were numerous times where we'd be down a goal and Hall shifted into another gear to spark the team. It was obvious he's desperate to get into the postseason, and even if he didn't score, he seemed to will it to happen on quite a few nights when we were flat or trailing.I am enjoying it...it just bothers me when people say he's "carrying the team" though.
