I am done ranting and raving about Ward. Let's just all see who shows up tonight. Will it be the brick wall goalie that we all hope to see or will it be the guy who let's in 2-3 soft goals. 2 hours in change until we find out.

Thing is, even if he goes out and plays like a brick wall, if he lets in a soft goal in the next game the pitchforks will come back out. That's how it has been for Ward for a little while now, people ignore long streaks of solid play and focus on the occasional meltdown.

What I am hoping for is somewhere around a 2.40ish GAA and a 91-92 save% in 50-60 games from Ward during the regular season. With our current blue line I feel as though those numbers are attainable and reasonable for someone who is paid 6.7M a year.

Well, he's put up a .913 so far... so...

Not the point, his GAA is like 2.98 so he needs to be doing better.

Obviously he's not going to be capable of putting up .915ish and a 2.50ish numbers, simply because the guys ahead of him are letting so many shots through. If we throw out the Phoenix game because he didn't start, he's left with a GAA of 2.61 and a .926 save percentage. That's absurd.

This is the best thing ever. The basic algebraic impossibility of it all is delightful.

It implies what we already know, which is that there's no way Cam (or anyone) can put up strong trading-card numbers behind this defense.
