Nice article. It sounds like he's happy, which is all that matters. Still some regret, but doesn't everyone have something in their past they wished had turned out different?

I thought this was an analogy at first, but then realized it was literal: "I had gotten so used to how they sharpened my skates in Europe."

I agree with his sentiment that living in a European city is very different from the States...in a good way.

So, about those season tickets. I have yet to hear what is to become of the money I spent on games that never took place. Perhaps they're holding out for the season to continue but the writing is on the wall for fans attending games for the '19-'20 season. Yet I have been solicited about buying season tickets for next season. Very uncouth.

Anyone in contact with RR? I follow him on Twitter. I also follow his daughter who passed away a few years back. Today I got a couple tweets from her account hawking sunglasses. If you can contact him, he might want to know.

Looks like he has not been on here since December. I met up with him briefly at a game last season but don't have contact with him outside of the games.

I'm look for a new thermometer. The Mayo clinic offers this advice:

If you plan to use a digital thermometer to take both oral and rectal temperatures, you'll need to get two digital thermometers and label one for oral use and one for rectal use. Don't use the same thermometer in both places.

So glad I decided to research.

I REALLY don't like beer (or bier either) just wanted to support my local small business during these trying times. Somebody has got to do it.

My rep has been silent, other than a call a month ago to try to pressure me into re-upping for next season. I told him I'd do so only if Tocchet gets fired, and he replied with something about how difficult it would become to get seats if I didn't respond there and then. I somehow doubted that when the building was rarely more than two-thirds full.

My rep told me they are trying to figure out just what to do themselves, but assured it will be like the uncertain times of a potential move and that reimbursements, or forwarding to future games will be the procedure. I upped for the next two season myself.
Can't tell if this is Arizona or not
Can't be 100% certain, but it looks like his place at Finesterre in PV.

That's perfectly acceptable. It's a trying time for all. I just wasn't pleased with a direct solicitation for next year without addressing the white elephant in the room. Not the best approach when I have money left on the table and there's no guarantee of a season. A different approach would have been preferred. Just me being grumpy.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you. Verbal reassurance was not overly helpful, but in the end I couldn’t help myself. I’m in the first group for sth’s changing their seat location, seats at potential new arena etc., so that and my rabid love of the game all came into play. I still have doubts as to whether it was the right decision, or not.
The longer this drags out the tighter and more scarce the dollars become.

One thing I like about baseball is that unassuming-looking "Clark Kent" pitchers that don't have overpowering velocity can still be extremely effective. Pitching is much more art than athletics.

The one I had posted in the other thread was from 2017, this one is from Dec. 2019. I'm sure there will still be plenty of people bitching about it but the takeaway isn't the nuances of placement but that there are degrees of reputability and we should all be more aware of them. I respect that some will rank the sites differently but...

  • If you ever find yourself following anything in the dash dot dot box, you need to do some serious self-reflection and likely make some different life choices as well.
  • If you find yourself in the dash dot box you're being heavily manipulated but at least you're not crazy

I only use Reuters and AP but it’s laughable they have NPR as balanced. Reliable? Sure. But steers HARD left. Not even in a progressive, actual left way. But in a rich liberal New Hampshire way.

Damn, just noticed the Atlantic too. Not nearly far enough left. This is a Lib chart.

You are conflating simple news reports with their editorial and radio programs. It would be like saying the NYTs leans right because they run opinion pieces from conservatives. The Atlantic runs longform analysis and leans about as far left as the WSJ does right. Both are good reads and generally heavy on academic arguments.

I like NPR and the Atlantic and also the NYTs and WSJ. I used to listen to NPR every day until 2016. Then they started crying so much I couldn't take it. I also find both socialists and libertarians much more interesting than Democrats or Republicans. I also like to listen to or read from nut jobs on both sides. Alex Jones is very funny. Gavin McGinnis is interesting when he's not being racist (which unfortunately is about half the time). I also think Chapo Traphouse is interesting. I find CumTown funny, even though I guess it makes me horrible (they're obviously both stupid, and joking). I like the Bruenig's, especially Elizabeth. Briahna Joy Gray has been great on Twitter since Bloody Monday. This pandemic is turning me into a communist, I think. But mostly I just want to see rich people, especially the politicians executed in the streets. I'm not sure I want everything nationalized after. If they could murder the entire 1%, I might feel good about going back to being libertarian leaning. But only after a purge.

^ at least 66% of that was ironic. ;)

This whole thing is making me lose my mind in basically all ways. Even my drinking habits have become unhinged. Not more voluminous, mind you, just bizarre. Five weeks ago, I was going to have a pale ale if the sun was up, perhaps a martini or G&T for cocktail hour (only now and again) and a whiskey if the sun was down. Generally, I'd only have on drink per day. But it was going to be on of those four, and almost always the ale or the whisky. Rarely the cocktail. These days, I'm doing things with alcohol I never imagined. First one: Take a small glass tumbler and freeze it. Then add 1 pony refrigerated pickle juice and 1 pony refrigerated Wild Turkey 101. Second one: freeze one small glass tumbler. Add one pony of frozen Belvedere and two jiggers of refrigerated whole milk.

1) I'm happy to say I have no idea who the hell any of those people are haha
2) I will forever hate the "Occupy Wallstreet" morons for their shortsighted 1% slogan. I mean for f***s sake a couple that were both doctors would be "1%'ers" but those types are hardly the f***ing problem, it's the people who make more money than god that have disproportionate influence and those are not 1% they are .01% yet somehow own the majority of the world.
