Yes.

I think it's going to go up.

I don't think the goalies will adjust as quickly to the new equipment as some others do. This could ruin a lot of guys and there may be a goaltending merry-go-round this season.

There is also A LOT less hitting, everyone has a lot more time on the half wall, in the slot, ect. Seems the game has changed to stick checking only, so now you'll get a lot of tips and deflections into the net, flubbed pucks and whatnot. Some of these scores are crazy, but I think 6-5, 5-4 is going to be more normal than not.

After 114 games, scoring is almost the same as last season at this time (124 games) - 3.09 vs 3.10

Almost 500 games in and scoring pace is still well up.

On a sidenote, it seems that we are going to see record low amount of PP's considering 17/18 saw the second lowest rates in league history

It seems like the NHL is turning into what the NBA has become. Basically pond hockey like the NBA has turned into playground basketball.

As well as potentially ruining some goalies i think it could massively inflate salaries.

Certainly an interesting trend. PP efficiency has been consistently increasing in the past few years. Perhaps this leads players to be more cautious which also opens up the game more. This year out of 3.11 gpg 0.64 goals came from PP while in 05-06 out of 3.08 gpg, 1.03 goals came from PP.

It's been going up for years but everyone seems convinced we're in another dead puck era. Skill and offence are taking over once again.

Only difference between now and previous years is there's more talent spread among the teams, so individual totals haven't caught up yet.

The scoring is definitely up. Montreal can actually score goals this year. I watch games and when we're behind a goal or two, I never think it's over. I always used too.
